share your experience with SAUNDERS

I've been doing the questions but I also heard the questions on the cd are a lot easy. And how they might not help with the actual NCLEX exam. If this is true, then why is this book considered to help you pass the boards? I'm confused. Anyone passed the boards with just using saunders? Please, share your experience. Tell me how you studyied on the cd?

Hi sweetmya!

I, personally, would not rely just on Saunders alone to pass.

I know from experience. I thought that reviewing content would be most important so I only invested in Saunders 4th edition. Throughout the Summer, I completed the entire book and reviewed my weak areas the week before I tested. I did not have money for a Kaplan course and did not buy any other review books.

I tested last week and failed. I felt horrible and my biggest regret is studying Saunders and nothing else. Saunders does help with content but not with the strategy. There is just one section on prioritization and delegation... not nearly enough in my opinion.

I never even had the chance to use the CD because it didn't end up working on my mac laptop even though it said it would? I was kinda upset so I'm hoping the disc works on a different computer so I can use it now.

Best of luck with everything .. keep the faith and you'll be fine.

Are you going to use anything besides Saunders?

I took NCLEX a little over a year ago and passed the 1st time. The Saunder's CD is the only thing I used to study for it, although I did study a lot. I didn't really think the questions were much harder, it's just with Saunder's, you can get the answers right away. With NCLEX you never get the answers. Probably the best advise I got about studying with the CD was to practice more the stuff you don't know or aren't really good at. I know that seems like common sense, but I found when I practiced, I wanted to do the stuff I knew more about. A lot of my friends said the same thing.

Anyway, don't know if this helps, but good luck!:nuke:

Hey, thanks for the info.

I've used a lil bit of kaplan ( which I didn't like), I've used more then half of NCSBN learning ext course. and used saunders cd half way. I started the cd all over again to see if i remember anything. But, I have forgoten everything. I feel like nothing is going to make me remember all of the information. I don't know how I'm going to remember anything from saunders cd if I keep forgetting. =(

How many times did you do the cd? I did more then 80% of the cd and now I'm starting all over again but i keep forgetting everything. Did this happen to u 2?

I keep changing my exam date. I'm so scarred and feel like I don't know anything still.

That was exactly my problem .. I would review a section in the book ... take a good amount of time and read through all of the rationales and sometimes even read through the chapter. When I went to review right before the exam, I realized I somehow didn't seem to retain anything I thought I learned? It's so weird but it just didn't stick with me. I would read the rationale and say to myself, "ok this makes sense now" and then forget it?! Do I have amnesia? Why can't I focus?

It can be frustrating.

Kepp at it though .. pray to God that you will recall what you reviewed during your exam!

Ya, same here. The only option I have now is to prey. I know im going to keep on forgetting and nothing can fix this. I guess i'll just give it a shot. I might get lucky and pass.

Yes, pray pray pray. God is with you every step of the way and He will be your guidance and your strength.

Stay strong and I know you'll do great!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you didn't do any questions? I believe that answering q's is the key. Then reviewing the answers and what you got wrong as well as what you got right. Really focus on understanding why you got it wrong, not understanding basic physiology (I'm guilty of that with cardiac), read the q incorrectly, whatever. Use other means to reinforce your learning. I use Wikipedia website, just type in ball's palsy and it will have a lot of info, arranged quite nicely. If you are more of a visual picture, google it then click on images at the top and it will take you to pictures,

And don't just pick the topics you know the best, I am guilty of this as well.

Anyway good luck all.

Oh, I'm sorry you misunderstood me. I did every single question in the Saunders book but I didn't get to review the CD. After completing the questions in each section I would read through the rationales and review weak areas in the preceding chapter.
