Has anyone on here applied to this program?
Yeah I'm pretty scared also because I felt my personal statement wasn't that great. And only 20 spots available! I wish I had applied to the BSN program. I think I would've had a better chance getting into that...I believe they have 70 spots for their undergrad cohort. And one of my friends currently in the BSN program said she could easily get into the GMSN part if she took the GRE and got at least a 4.0. No personal statements or letters of recs necessary!!!! Argh.
For BSN programs that aren't accelerated, don't you have to go through the whole 4 years again to get a bachelors degree? I mean, I like how the odds seem better of getting in, especially with more schools offering bsn than entry level masters or absn. I just haven't put much time into researching programs, but maybe I'll have to do that if I get rejected this time. Do you have to take GE's and everything again?

For SFSU, you can get your BSN in 2 years if you have already graduated with a Bachelor's in another degree. These students are called "second bachelor students." The requirements are pretty much the same. Same exact GE's (for SFSU), but instead of GRE you need to take the TEAS exam, and no letters of rec or personal statement required.
The odds depend on your app - are your grades more stellar than your letters of recs and personal statement? Is your TEAS score better than your GRE score? Things like that. BSN programs are more about "number crunching" if you know what I mean!
whoa I did not know that. I just avoided anything that wasn't ABSN or MSN because I didn't want to spend another 4 years. But that is good to know, on the likely chance that I don't get in this time, I can potentially cast a much wider net next time around. Do you happen to know if Sac State's program is like that too?
Yes ABSN programs are really quick, some are only 15 months! But SFSU's not technically accelerated since it's 2 years long. Another drawback is for SFSU, you can only apply to one of their programs (BSN vs. MSN), so you can't apply to both.
From when I last checked, Sac state cancelled their ABSN program but many of the CSU's have them, San Marcos, Northridge, etc. However there are other schools like CSU east bay and San jose that have a 3-year BSN, which seems like a waste of time if you could get your Master's in 2!
Yeah I know that about SF State, most schools seem to be like that, bummer. And I had been checking sac state's website pretty regularly to see if they would be starting up the ABSN program again, but sadly no. I was wondering if their standard BSN program was the same 2 year thing like SF State, but it doesn't seem like it. Ah well. Hopefully I'll get in to the GMSN and won't have to worry about it haha. Thanks for the input!
I got my financial aid offer, as well. In order to check it, go to your SFSU Gateway account. Then, click on your admission status. It should redirect you to another portal (the webpage schematic is light blue). You can see your financial aid offer if you click on the tab on the top left that says "View Financial Aid."
Not very intuitive, but that's where the info is.
