Has anyone on here applied to this program?
I agreed master641215! Yes... we are in the early stages of restructuring our cripple healthcare system...probably a decade to see significant changes. Yes, there are some potential candidates in this forum that can make a difference in our healthcare system. I am currently doing some personal research on alternative medicine and functional medicine...very interesting. Yes one step at a time! The hospital is a nut house too many people wanting to talk to you, always interrupting you when you are trying to chart, constantly re-prioritizing, family members wanting to be your patient too...with tons of questions, rounds with the MDs/residents, PT/OT/speech therapy/RT/RD they all want to talk to you.....and then you have to discharge and admit patients quickly (pt. turnover means more money for the hospital).....doing all this and still have a smile on your face. I appreciate everyone perspectives in different areas and always interest to hear the other side of the story.....that is how we all can grow as a person. If anyone you guys have a chance check out this movie on iTunes or amazon prime (free): Escape Fire: The First to Rescue American Healthcare. This will give you some serious perspectives on what we are doing collectively as a nation to our healthcare system.
I understand the route to alternative medicine can be a rigorous one; working with stem cells, I've seen the potential of instituting cellular therapeutics/regenerative medicine into mainstream medicine. The biggest obstacles for it to overcome are the pharmaceutical companies and people's perception of using stem cells as a pillar of medicine.
Regarding maintaining a level of professionalism while everything around you can be chaotic: I'm sure that takes practice and a sh*tload of patience! All part of the growing up process you mentioned!
Thanks for the recommendation! If I ever get a chance to watch it, I'll let you know; afterward, we can compare thoughts and criticisms!
I haven't received anything. I only know that we should be getting updated around that time because that's what the front desk told me. At times, however, I fear they didn't receive my application at all!
Actually, my status still registers as "Incomplete" because they haven't received my transcripts. However, my transcripts are coming from SFSU, and the graduate division reassured me that they have it, despite what Gateway says.

Oh man, that must be stressful. It is good that the grad division said they have your transcripts, but it would be nice if they changed your status to complete.
The longer we have to wait the more nervous I get. If they're really only accepting 20 students, it seems like it would be a miracle if I got in.

I know what you mean, v4endetta; sucks that education comes with a hefty price tag!
You know better than I do that chronic care and readmission rates reflect poor health care and in turn, a financial burden for insurers, hospitals, and ultimately, patients. So hopefully there are potential applicants on this forum who are able to make that change!
I mentioned I wasn't too keen on SFSU FNP because I'm only applying to the general entry-level masters program. I didn't do any research on the FNP portion because that's currently out of my league! Maybe at a later stage, but as of now, one step at a time!
That would be great; it's always nice getting perspectives from people with direct experience, as well as a fresh perspective from someone on the outside looking in!
