Has anyone on here applied to this program?

Hi there - Did anyone else get this e-mail?

Your graduate admission application has been forwarded to your intended graduate program for final review.

If you have not done so, please submit all academic department application materials (letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, test scores, etc.) directly to the Graduate Coordinator for your intended program. Contact the academic department directly with questions regarding these additional application materials. You may continue to check your SF State Admission Status online at the following website.

Thank you,

Graduate Admissions

@max79 - yes, I got that e-mail. When I first saw it my heart skipped a beat thinking it was going to say whether I got in lol.

I received that letter on February 20th. Did you receive it recently? If so, I may have gotten mine early since I sent my CSU Mentor application in January. Has anyone checked the status of their application on SFSU Gateway? Does your application status still register as "Incomplete", denoted by a yellow triangle?

I got a 4.5 on writing, but it's just a pass/fail thing, they don't care about the number. I'm worried cause now I'm thinking my personal statement wasn't very good :(

Hopefully they take into account where you went for undergrad, like if you went to a harder school or not... not really sure what else they would base it on.

Hey everyone! I had been in the other thread for sf state, but I just found this one. I figured I'd join the convo. I can't believe they're only admitting 20 this year! That is really stressful. I have also applied to USF so hopefully I'll get in to at least one, but both programs are so competitive.

I'm applying to the women's health track CNS. My undergrad was at UCSB in Aquatic Bio and Spanish, graduated in 2012. Undergrad GPA ~3.3, pre-req GPA I think was around 3.6. GRE writing 4.0 (I was so shocked by that! I generally think that writing is one of my strong points, it's what I scored highest in on the SAT and I actually write as a hobby so am pretty bummed that I only got the minimum score on that part of the application.)

Healthcare experience: live in caregiver for dementia patient 3 days a week for the past year, helping with all her healthcare and general needs.

I'm really hoping that the personal statement is weighted as heavily as I've heard, that was my chance to show (hopefully) that my GRE writing score was not a good representation of my writing ability and to show how my life's experiences have shaped me to become who I am. It was my chance to show why purpose is to be a nurse, particularly in women's health. But I agree, it was not easy to put it all together in less than 500 words while being sure to address all of their questions.

Also, was it just me or did some of the questions in the prompt seem annoyingly similar?

Hello everyone! It's really nice to see that this board has been picking up. I've applied to both USF and SF state (crossing my fingers)

Bachelors of Science, Gerontology at CSUS

Health related experience: Volunteered at a hospital for one year- assisted nurses in various departments, one year internship at an adult day care program for adults with dementia, and 2 other skilled nursing facilities.

Nursing pre-reqs: 3.7

GRE Writing score: 4

Applying for: GMSN CNS, Adult critical/chronic care

@master641215 - My status on SFSU gateway is still registered as incomplete, as well. However, I spoke to one of the admissions counselors and he said that they have been backed up so it's normal to see the status as incomplete, but they are trying their best to accommodate new students for admissions. As long as we submitted our nursing app through NursingCAS before the due date then we are fine.

However, I never got an email from Graduate Admissions stating that my app has been forwarded to intended graduate program =/

Anyone happen to know others who applied for the adult critical/chronic care program??

that email was like a REALLY long time ago, idk why he just brought it up now, you probably forgot that you got it. I just checked and I got it on Jan 30th.

Thanks for the confirmation, futurenurse1109! I keep getting you confused with futurenurseshelly, due to the username similarity! So apologies in advance if I mistake the two of you!

It looks like we have a well-rounded group of applicants, all with various backgrounds, experience, and future aspirations.

Thank you all for keeping the comments flowing; it's a great way to commiserate (as futurenurseshelly puts it!) while we wait the 1.5 to 2 months to hear back from SFSU!

It is great that this thread is picking up!

Actually I received it on March 13th. I am sure it varies by person depending on when the app. is in and potentially last name. Also, at the info session I attended, they stated to try to get the best possible score on the GRE Writing portion as it was an important factor, especially given the limited number of students being admitted. You have to get at least a 4 to be considered.

My status on SF Gateway is complete but it was incomplete forever and I called and got the same response - they're backed up. I was happy to see it change.

I received the email on March 13 as well, I think it has to do with when we turned in the app since I turned mine in the day before it was due. My sfsu gateway status was incomplete for a while, it finally switched to complete once they processed my transcripts. But the green "Complete" circle and the green "Admitted" check mark look very similar at first glance, which can be misleading (at least for me lol).

That would be great if the GRE was a pass fail thing, since I only got the minimum score, but I have a feeling that they will take the individual score into consideration like Max79 said. Hopefully everything else will weigh in my favor.

Yeah, my name is really similar to Futurenurse1109 (and we're both applying to the same schools! haha). If it makes it easier you all can just call me Shelly, of course that name was already taken when I registered so I just added the futurenurse part to make it original -- obviously not that original.

Sounds good, Shelly. There's quite a few "Futurenurses" I've come across while looking at older threads. Even though you don't think it's original, I've certainly never thought of the name while creating my username!

Speaking of older threads, it seems applicants who were accepted received letters around the first two weeks of April. People who were on the waitlist were notified of acceptance as late as mid May. So that means we're about less than a month away from hearing news (good news, of course); 2 months away from knowing certain fate!

Hi everyone! I've been a lurker on this site for the past couple of months, and particularly this thread. I am also applying to the SFSU GMSN program (Community/Public Health) for Fall 2014, however I have not yet received an email from either the SFSU Grad Admissions nor the SON, letting me know that my application has been forwarded to the SON. I applied very early January too. Hmmmm. My application status online does say "complete." At any rate, just wanted to introduce myself. Good luck to you all!

Welcome, NotJerriBlank! Feel free to voice your comments/concerns/frustrations on this thread; I'm sure that's why we're all here (other than to see who gets in and who doesn't)!

Regarding your application, you should probably harass SFSU Grad Admissions first, since SoN would probably be swamped with trolls such as myself constantly asking if they've accepted anyone yet! However, if your application indicates "Complete", I think you should be good.
