SFSU Fall 2012

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone!

Is anyone applying to San Francisco State's program for fall 2012? I haven't seen any threads on it... Just wondering since apps are due in a few weeks!

Anyone get anything about their alternate major?

check your e-mail! just got notified that the status on gateway won't be updated for another 48 hours.

I'm #14!!!! Woohoo!

Hurray! You can rock your scarf now. lol ;)

''Anyone get anything about their alternate major?''

I was admitted into the kinesiology program without even applying or listing it as my alternate. I chose not to pursue because I figured a degree in kinesiology is pretty much worthless

SFSU Verdict: Waitlisted #32

Stats: 4.0 pre-req gpa, 4.0 overall gpa, health related volunteer experience, TEAS: 82%

Thought I might have a better chance than this but I'm not too optimistic about rank #32 as last year only went as far as #24.

My other prospects: I got accepted to USF but turned it down due to cost, I also just got my acceptance email to CSUEB, (this is my last choice, but at least I know I am in a program), and still waiting on SDSU (tied 1st choice with SFSU).

Congrats to all of you who made it in and best of luck to you in your studies at SFSU.

waitlisted too....

so that means sfsu already chose for fall and spring... so whoevers on the waitlist can either get in fall 2012 OR spring 2013 OR get rejected by BOTH right??...

&so if we never get a call back then we're just stuck with the alternate major?

*sighs*

is there anyone here like me still waiting to hear back??

I'm on the waitlist at sfsu/canada college nursin program. It doesn't say my rank number or how many people are in the waitlist. Does anyone know the amount of people are on the waitlist in the sfsu/Canada nursing program?

I got accepted to CSUEB too! I was excited at first.. but now I think I want to stay at USF since I feel it has more opportunities for me.. hmm

Congrats though!

Hey Everyone! I need help from others who know about nursing! So, I am so thankful that I got into two programs. I got into the University of San Francisco and SF State nursing program (basic BSN for both). Now I am trying to figure out which is better. I know USF is more expensive but i heard that due to having your clinical rounds in more known hospitals, you can get better jobs and have more job security.

I also hears that because state schools are so impacted and hurting badly from budget cuts, that it is taking nursing students up to 6 years in states to complete the program. But i did hear this information from a USF representative, so I dont know what to think!!!

Anyone who knows about these schools, or anyone who knows of a website where i may find statistics about the applicant pool please please let me know. It is so much appreciated. I have 10 days to make a decision. eeeeek!!

AmberKu,

I think I will be in your Nursing 120 class if you and I decide to go to USF. Well, if I decide to stay. LOL.

I was hoping to get into SFSU :(

Let me know if it is true about the whole taking up to six years.

Have they told you yet that a group of students from each co-hort get to do all their clinicals at UCSF?

:)

6 years?! In the context of the discussion, I think it would be plausible to consider 6 years overall to complete a Nursing program (including ADN/BSN degrees) IF you have not completed any prerequisites. That's total, all together with GE's and courses like Micro/Physio/Chem etc. that you would generally need to apply to a program unless you get into a Nursing program right away and finish in 4 years (i.e. UC Irvine, although I used this example because I don't know any CSU's Nursing Programs that are direct admit). Most programs at the CSU's are 2-3 years (SFSU, SDSU, CSULB, etc).

USF is a great school in general and they consistently rank high in graduate studies too (my Micro Professor used to work/teach there). As long as the debt isn't an issue I would (IMO) go there if I had the opportunity. Then again, the pretty coins of a Nurse career would make up for the debt...

How long would the USF Nursing program be as a transfer student?
