Sfsu elmsn fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone, I'm creating a thread for the prospective students applying to the fall 2016 SFSU ELMSN program. It would be great to see the stats of fellow cohorts for the program!

hmm..well in my opinion i would assume that public health is a more broader domain addressing women's health as well (?) whereas women's health is more narrow.

How many letters of recommendation have you gotten? Just finished my CV (which i didn't have much to write about) and my goal statement today. Still needs much revision though

I have 3 letters of rec (2 from colleagues/bosses and 1 from a professor). I need to get one regarding my volunteer experience. I have one...its a letter of rec/confirmation of hours completed but my supervisor at the time has since left the facility so I need to track him down and ask him to submit it.

I have already applied to one program through NursingCAS so thankfully most of my application is complete.

I need to contact SFSU on Monday to see what will suffice as an equivalent for the critical thinking prerequisite....

I still need to work on my personal statement.

Does all the information from NursingCAS stay on there forever? So for example if i do not get into the program this year and re-apply next year, i would not have to re-obtain all my letters of rec and etc?

I also did not fulfill the recommended critical thinking pre-requisite. I am a psychology major and i did a critical thinking for my major and i emailed the nursing department. They accepted it. I think they are pretty lenient for the non-science pre requisites.

I have mostly psychology courses too. I wasn't a psych major (I majored in environmental management) but I have a big interest in psychology.

I think it depends on the school and program you're applying to. For instance UCSF said they would keep all of my application materials for a year should I decide to reapply but they did not use NursingCAS.

Samuel Merritt used NursingCAS so NursingCAS already has been information and official transcripts. However I feel like my letters of recommendation may need to be resubmitted if the writers addressed it to a specific person within the program.

Hi All! I'm planning to apply here as well. I applied last year for CNS- women's health and was waitlisted. I'm hoping this year with my new experiences I'll be a more qualified applicant. Good luck to us all!

Hi guys, how far along are you all in the application process? I just submitted mine on the 15th. I feel so nervous about it !!

Hey guys, has anyone sent their official transcripts to NursingCAS yet? I sent mine over 2 weeks ago and NursingCAS still hasnt received it. This is worrysome:nailbiting: Im afraid it was lost in the mail or something

Hi @Karenara,

Since I'm reapplying, I only had to send in one updated transcript. I sent it at the beginning of January and they got it about a week later I think. I sent mine in from California.

That's quick! I just sent another transcript. Hopefully they get it soon. Really hope we all get in. Now the anxiety and waiting game begins haha

Hey guys, did you all send transcripts to SFSU Graduate Admissions or just NursingCAS? I didn't realize that they needed to be sent to both places so now I'm scrambling to get them to SFSU. I'm worried this will negatively affect my application. I just wanted to put it out there in case any one else made my mistake too.

I applied in the fall for spring, 2016 and can't remember if I sent them directly as well. (I think so.) I didn't send anything this time since I had just applied. Even though we're past the deadline, you're probably fine because things take a while to process paperwork and they're very nice in that office. I wouldn't worry, but call/email them either way.

HI guys, i had a problem with the transcript situation as well. NursingCAS wrongly scanned my transcript to another person so i was waiting anxiously for about 3-4 weeks for them to receive it. I called endlessly and finally it was received. However, my app was undelivered because i failed to send a transcript from a community college i attended years ago in high school.

My question is, do you guys think the application is delayed if the materials are not received and would it decreased my chances of being admitted?
