Sfsu elmsn fall 2016

Published

Hi everyone, I'm creating a thread for the prospective students applying to the fall 2016 SFSU ELMSN program. It would be great to see the stats of fellow cohorts for the program!

Hello! I am applying, but my stats are pretty low. They told me they focus on the last 60 units so that's why I am applying.

yes they do! have you finished your pre reqs? im still working on them so i won't be able to submit my app until the semester is over.

Yes I have finished all my pre-requisites in Spring 2015 semester! I just have to take my GRE in two weeks.

oh goodluck to you! i got a 3.5 on the writing the first time then a 4.5 the second haha. Since sfsu only looks at the writing portion, i just did the writing portion and skipped the verbal and quantitative portions. kind of a waste of money haha

May i ask what other schools you have applied to?

Hello All,

I just began the process of applying SFSU, specifically for CNS - community/public health.

I applied to Samuel Merritt University's ABSN progrm (I need to finish pharmacology and pathophysiology and retake my TEAS :/) and UCSF's MEPN.

I just received my rejection letter to UCSF today which bummed me out but I am staying optimistic.

I am also retaking my GRE next weekend. I got a 4.5 on the analytical writing the first time around. I plan to take it again to improve my quantitative score.

Does anyone have any info on how many students SFSU takes per cohort?

Best of luck to everyone!

around 120 applicants apply to SFSU's ELMSN program and the program takes about 16-20. May i ask what your GPA was for your last 60 units? and do you have any volunteer or health care experience? just want a feel for other peoples' stats :)

@MondanaDeVonne- I am unable to reply to your message because this website doesn't allow me to until i have a certain amount of points or something like that...anyways if you want you can email me! [email protected]

@Karenara My grades are not the strongest. I am not sure of my overall GPA for the last 60 units (this is the first program I've applied to where they are considering grades that way) but I have a 3.0 in my core sciences.

I have about 200 hours of volunteer experience - 120 at an HIV/AIDS hospice facility and around 80 with a pediatric ER. I am also working on getting a shadowing position with an NP at UCSF.

How about you?

wish i could have gotten more health care experience with children....im applying for CNS-pediatrics. Im still an undergrad student (only 21 years old) and i was not able to gain too much health care experience. i have 200+ hours volunteering at a county hospital working with low income populations. as for non health related work, i did humanitarian work in Zambia, Africa last summer. but thats pretty much it :(

Based on an online GPA calculator I think my GPA for the last 60 units is 3.17....

I am actually torn between community/public health and women's health.

I would love to get any kind of experience out of the country. I have never been anywhere outside of North America.

My hope is one day to be able to do a stint with Doctors Without Borders.
