  1. Hi @tkretsch, I'm so sorry to hear that. Please do not lose hope! I know how you feel. I am no expert but I will try giving you advice that I have used in my own application and have read elsewhere. First of all, look on the USF website and read about the foundation and beliefs of the school (the Catholic Jesuit tradition). You don't have to be religious, But I think writing the personal statement along those beliefs might help (tying in your experiencs to the beliefs of school). Also research the CNL role and how it ties into your futur goals. Change up your personal statement and letters of recommendation for the next application cycle. They want 2 letters but I'd say even do 3 if you can. For example, 1 academic letter (from professor), 1 professional (employer), and 1 related to your health care experience. I would also say gain more experience in the healthcare field whether it's volunteer or CNA, EMT,etc. Do anything you can in the community to work with underserved populations, as well as culturally diverse populations. USF looks at the personal statement closely since it's like an interview sort of. But they also look at the application as a whole (which is great). Update your CV/RESUME as well and add in more things as you accumulate more experience. Have others read your personal statement and really make it clear, concise, and outline your exact reasons why you want to become a nurse (past experience, future goals), as well as a solid understanding of the CNL role. I had trouble writing the personal statement because I was thinking about it too hard. I'd say take a step back and really find the out the genuine reason why you wanna be a nurse in the first place and why USF-CNL? And then build upon those reasons according to the prompt. I hope this could help you, and I wish you the best of luck :)
  2. They actually called me, but I'm pretty sure you can just try giving a call to the school of nursing and ask to speak with someone who knows your status!
  3. Hi guys, I just got a call this afternoon telling me that I've been put off the wait list and admitted :)
  4. I called and they said that wait list people should start hearing something by the end of this week.
  5. Thank you for letting us know @stasha_nicole :)
  6. Has anyone on the waitlist heard any news yet?
  7. My status is still "to be reviewed". And I have no idea about letters, I did not receive anything for being wait listed. I only found out by getting in touch with Ingrid. But I do believe you should be receiving a letter in the mail if you are accepted
  8. I really am losing my sanity! I hope we hear by this Friday! Just curious, how were your guys' GPAs and health care experience?
  9. @Ncbaut, are there other USF fall 2016 forums? I wasn't able to find any others. They were all University of South Florida
  10. Hey guys, Has anyone heard anything back from USF? This coming Friday marks exactly 8 weeks since the deadline, and is when we should be hearing back (hopefully). I heard that people who are accepted usually hear first than those declined
  11. @stasha_nicole I'm taking anatomy lab over summer because my university doesn't offer anatomy with lab for pre nursing students. I called USF yesterday and they said it'll be another 2 weeks (ish) until they start giving out answers
  12. Hey guys, I applied as well. I hear USF really looks at personal statement and references, since the personal statement is kind of like an "interview". Can I ask what were your guys' GPAs and what not? I noticed USF doesn't ask for some pre reqs that other nursing schools ask for such as critical thinking and chemistry. My undergrad GPA so far (im still in undergrad-graduating next month) is 3.73 and my pre req GPA is about a 3.8
  13. I was just wait listed for pediatrics... 15/20. Pretty upset about that. But congrats to those who were accepted! What were your guys stats if I may ask? I think my weakness was my lack of adequate patient care experience.
  14. @bellanoche86 I 100% agree with you! I appreciate the humor :) How do you feel like you did on the interview though?
  15. @bellanoche86 I feel like i did just "okay". I definitely could have improved some of my answers and a question caught me off guard... Honestly don't know what to expect at this point. I have been so nervous all week and I'm mentally preparing myself for the worst outcome just incase (i have a twisted way of thinking haha). We will definitely hear something back this week. When exactly? No idea, which is the worst part. Time to compulsively check my email starting monday morning....Really hope we get in. Btw, what track did you choose? I'm pediatrics.
