SFSU 2011 applicants

Published

Application period is about to start for everybody. I wanted to open a new thread for those who are applying to SFSU, to share information, give support to others and to see how fierce the competition is going to be this academic year.

Congratulations Solidus!!! :yeah:

As for the immunizations: The 2-step PPD does take two weeks to complete, and if you need your MMR or Varicella, don't take those until after your second PPD reading (they can affect your PPD results). You'd need a doctor's order first for your titers, and if you need any other vaccinations. Even if you don't have positive results for the titers, you can still submit the lab results with proof for each injection you get. Unfortunately, I've had to take my HepB over again :\ As long as you post the negative results, and show that you just had the first shot, you're good. The system we upload our documents on will just set another due date for you to upload your next couple of shots, or however many you'd need to complete the requirement.

And the books: I agree with angelxeternity. The package is super expensive, and I don't use ebooks either. You can get the books in the package for cheap through sites like Amazon or eBay. Order your calculations book first though! If you want to see the PreTest and Unit 1, I had scanned it a couple of weeks ago for a friend of mine while she waited for her calculations book to arrive in the mail. Just email me and I'll forward them to you

Congrats again! :lol2:

yes please Bombom! I'm waiting for my books to arrive too! and thanks very much!

I'm sending you a pm now.

@ EME.LEW do you mind me asking what number you are now? I might just email admissions myself. Im just curious as to what number I am... originally number 26. I did get into College of Marins ADN program & im quite excited about it. I already purchased all my books & everything. My only thoughts are that I currently do not have a Bachelors degree ... the good news about the College of marin program is that it's an excellent program & I hear that Marin General has a handful of college of marin nursing graduates employed at their facility. I might be bummed if Im very close on the waitlist and cant stay on it since ill be going full speed in the nursing program this fall. ..I guess i can always go for a bridge program if its difficult finding a job in marin. ..

Hi Erikagrace,

Congratulations on your acceptance to Marin! Sounds like you are probably no more than number 7 or so on the SF State waitlist, but you can just email the nursing department to find out for sure what your status is, and they usually get back to you within 24 hours . Marin also sounds like a great opportunity! It's all what feels right to you. I'm not sure how it works completely, like if people drop out/change their mind during the fall semester, if that opens up more spaces for spring semester students...Or if there is a cut off at some point, and now the only way to get in is if people accepted for spring have to leave. That would be one way to weigh your/our chances. I haven't got around to asking that question yet. :)

I called the office and asked about cut off time for accepting waitlisters for Fall, and They have pretty much stopped taking waitlisters for Fall as of now. Also,

If people drop out during Fall, according to the woman I spoke to in the Nursing department office, it unfortunately does not make space available for waitlisters for Spring semester. So for waitlisted students, I guess it is now up to whether or not any spring students decide not to attend next semester (Spring)

EME.LEW

Hang in there! I'm rooting for you! You're just so close and almost there for Spring, so don't give in now

Aw, Thank you so much Solidus! It sure is hard waiting so long to hear something isn't it?! haha :) I'm hangin I'm hangin .

Thanks again!

Eme.Lew thanks for the replie and for asking those questions they were on my mind as well. Good luck with everything! all the best:) and you will get in!

Thank you so much! And to you too!

So have any waitlisted for Spring heard anything? Still playing the waiting game.

I was recently accepted into the Spring 2012 program, feeling very fortunate. Thank you everyone for your support on waiting up until this point, and for your advice! :)
