Lol yeah UCLA is the reason I was in town interviewing. I didn't apply anywhere else.. I am waiting until May for some more applications to open up. I spent forever finding hospitals to apply to and I really want one with a new grad program like chla and ucla. At ucla I interviewed for the cardiac surgery unit. I highly doubt I will get both offers.. Or any offer.. Everyone interviewing at UCLA seemed to be legit lol. I don't have my license yet, and absolutely no NICU experience. I'd prob get an offer from

UCLA over childrens bc I have kind of a lot of cardiac floor experience (care assistant and internship). But I'm trying to just be positive and wait this out.

Did you apply to both? How's your search going? I hate this, I can't wait to be done!

Ya I applied to both hospitals as well! I would love to work at either hospital!

Good luck to you. We'll keep each other posted!

I interviewed at childrens on the 14th. I called and told them I'm from NY and would be in town interviewing, and HR set one up for me. She told me the process after the interview. She said I was the very first person she's interviewed. They're choosing 100 to do the preliminary interview and they will start calling after the 22. I applied for NICU so she said 12 will be chosen to come back and interview for their unit of choice, and 5-6 new grads will be chosen from the 12. She said I would get a call back mid may if I am chosen for a second interview and will need to come back out. Interview was nothing to stress about and nothing clinical!

Was it easy for you to get a hold of them and ask for the interview? i'm going to be in town (from WA) on the 26th interviewing at UCLA, and I called CHLA to see if i could come by, but had to leave a message. I just hope they call me back soon :)

Yes! They'll call you back. Good luck

When you interviewed, did you intervie with the NICU manager or the HR nurse recruiter?

AHHH I can't believe they're only calling back 22 people after the 100!

That's great that NICU is hiring about 5-6...that's quite a lot! I heard they usually only take 1-2!

I interviewed with HR. It's a preliminary interview. And after the 100 interview with HR, they call back more than just 22 ppl to interview with unit managers. it's like 12ish + per choice I believe (12 for NICU, 12 for picu, 12 med surg, etc.) and yeah hopefully she was right about that 5-6 number!

I hope they start calling soon after the 22nd, this "waiting game" makes me so anxious.

Hi!!!

I'm sure this time they'll be hiring more externals, especially with the new hospital!

Good luck to us all!!!

I personally know a girl from Rochester (Where I am at in NY) who applied at CHLA last year and is working there now, so what I'm trying to say is they def hire externals as well. she works on a bone marrow transplant floor...totally not my thing.
