Anyone out here applying or reapplying for the 2015?! I thought I'd just go ahead and get this thread started :)
I'll be taking Micro, history and public speaking to finish up for sentara. If I get in that is! Riverside I would have to add medical terminology, which I could do since I have an open class. I'm just worried about how crazy the next few months are going to be with a full course load, the care partner course and three little people under the age of 7 is going to be.
Yea Sentara is only 15-20 minutes away compared to riverside which is 45 min away. The only thing about riverside that I don't like is that they only offer u a diploma once you're done with the program. The program is already at 28k which means I would have to do the rn-bsn bridge at an additional cost. I'm keeping riverside as my final choice for now.
I wanted to retake A&P II this summer because I got a C in it (my grades were not a top priority my first few years in college), but heard A&P II is not counted in the admission formula. Does anyone know if this is true? It would have been a great refresher because I don't remember jack from 2001, but I needed the money for the TEAS test and study material.
No a&p 2 is not calculated in the formula for sentara BUT it will for riverside. I know of someone who got into riversides rn program with all C's in her science prereqs and is still pulling A's in her nursing courses. And the fact they are extending deadlines since no one is applying can boost your chances of getting in.
lakmom12 - You might know this, but Riverside accepts courses from Portage Learning (Riverside School of Health Careers - Home ). The link at Riversides website doesn't work, so you would have to do a web search for Portage Learning. It appears that they are accredited and you take the course at your pace. They offer medical terminology.
No that's not a factor at all. On their website it even says u can apply with 30 credits which must include the 6 classes they look at. The remaining has to be done before the program starts. And yes, riverside only offers u a diploma. No associates or bachelors degree. And the reason why is because they offer a lot of clinical hours (that's what a nursing advisor told me.) Plus it seems like they're raising tuition there as well. a couple months ago tuition was only $25k. I just hope that they don't keep raising the price!
Yea I'm just glad I'm done with my prereqs. All I have left to do is apply to programs left and right lol. But trust me that's not a factor. Last year when I applied to sentara I still had to take 4 other classes: Micro, a&p2, art and Spanish. And yes that's why I am PRAYING for sentara's acceptance!

I was planning on applying to Riverside as a back-up, but would have had to take A&P II, sociology, microbiology, and medical terminology by December for the Jan. class. Because I am a second degree student and have taken A&P II in 2001 (Sentara doesn't expire courses), I only have microbiology to complete for Sentara. Even though my commute for Riverside would be 20 min compared to 45 for Sentara, I feel that Sentara is the best choice for me.
