Hello everyone,

I am applying to the BSN program at Sentara for the 2019 starting class, is there anyone else out there?

I haven't taken the TEAS yet but will be after my last 2 pre reqs any tips on the TEAS v6 teat that may help ?

Thanks!

Tonja~

I actually live closer to Sentara, but not too far from ODU. I would prefer Sentara because I have heard nothing but great things about the program, but I'll take whatever I can get. I just want to be done with this already. When are you taking the TEAS? I understand not wanting to take the extra classes, it's just extra stuff to worry about. If I'm not accepted into ODU's program I definitely wont be taking that class!lol!!

Yeah I actually live closer to sentara too !! I heard great things about ODU and sentara !! And I would take what I could get too... I'm just ready to be finished !! I'm taking it April 7th I'm so so nervous 😬 lol !! Yea I'm taking span 2 in April just to prob help with job placement for a second language idk !! Have you talked to a counselor at sentara yet?

Kudos to you, learning Spanish is a great idea and could be beneficial as well.Yes I've spoken to a counselor but I'm going to wait until I find out about ODU before applying. Don't worry too much about the test you have a while to prepare and you will have plenty of time to reatke and boost your score if all else fails. You did well on the Hesi so I'm sure you will do great on the TEAS. Do you know anything about the scoring rubric for applicants at Sentara?

I do not much about the scoring rubric, I do know they split your 6 class pre-req into 2 which I'm not sure why but that's how they are doing it now and the TEAS is a big factor as well. Yea I'm starting to feel more confident as I study more lol !!! My fingers are crossed for you !!!!

Hi everyone! Just wanna lend a helping hand. I used Mometrix ATI secrets book. I have to be honest I didn't have a lot of time to study because it was my finals at the time but what I did is do a bunch of practice tests. Testing yourself is the est way to learn IMO and what's even better is if you time yourself. Don't sweat it too much, go back to your A&P 1 and 2, Chemistry, Basic algerbra, Statistics, reading(time yourself on this, because you'll be reading paragraphs and it's time sensitive so the pressure is on you ), english (verb, subject verb agreement, adjectives) and Bio and you should be good!

I believe you can take it twice, The great thing about Sentara is if when you take it twice they pull your best scores from the two tests so you can get a higher average score.

Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone, I also will be applying to sentara BSN Jan 2019 by May. I will be taking the TEAS exam pretty soon but I haven't been studying that much. My GPA for the 6 classes is a 3.4. I hope I get in!!!!

If so do you believe they are harder or easier? I have both the ATI and Mometrix book so I'm hoping I do well! Sorry one more question do you know if you retest do you take the whole test over or just the section you didn't do so well on ? Thank you !

When are planning on taking your TEAS ? I'm wishing you all the luck

You're welcome! And yes I go to Sentara :)

I didn't do the practice test on the ATI website, if it's free I would suggest doing it. What really helped me a lot is the information I retained from the prerequisites classes i took. There are apps that you can download and do when you're bored or away from your book.

I'm not great in Math, I hate it but I got an 85 in Math, I went back to the basics (fraction and all of that elementary stuff)

Testing yourself really does help!

You have to do the whole thing when you retake it.

Also I got an 82 on my first time and after I retook it they pulled my best scores and ended up with 84 :)

Okay yea I knew I saw your name along with some of your classmates awaiting your acceptance !! That's awesome !!! I have been studying for awhile and I'm on the systems now because I took my pre-reqs awhile ago lol but I do remember the basics and I purchased the practice test A and B from ATI so I hope they are similar to the test! Did you take your TEAS at Sentara ? And I use the ATI pocket prep too ! Ugh I'm just nervous! Did sentara break your GPA up as well the 6 classes into 2 groups ? They are doing that now

I took the first one at the testing center wherever you choose from the list from ATI website when you schedule. The second one was at Sentara but it's always towards the end when they do that. Sentar only uses those 6 classes to calculate your GPA. Assuming you got A's on those gives you a 4.0. That's what they did at the time. Idk if it changed. Also it's good to note that GPA weighs more than TEAS.

Okay wow that is great to know I wondered if our GPA's would weigh more luckily I have all A's in my sciences and pre reqs besides a B+ in Stats and English 1 so I am hoping that is a good GPA. A told me the 2 GPA's up for review are 3.67 and 3.73 so I'm praying that is good enough with a good teas score.
