A 5-6 semester wait is absurd! Am I reading this correctly?

Does anyone know this calculated wait time includes those applicants that have been placed but have not started the spring semester yet?

Also, has anyone that turned in their application for the Jan 31, 2010 deadline heard anything or from anyone at MCCCD?

sorry i didn't type the whole name out! most campuses, if not all, offer a pathophysiology course. i've found it to be pretty helpful thus far (only 6 weeks in, so i'm sure it will prove to be even more helpful the further i get).

good luck!

Joybella,

Hello. You mentioned in an earlier post that you thought a 5-6 semester wait was based on spring, summer fall and winter quarters and that this would be equivalent to and 18 month wait.

The way I understand this is that there are only 2 semesters a year, therefore the 5-6 semester wait would be 2 1/2 - 3 years. I know we were all being told the wait time was approximately 12-18 months but my concern now and the reason for starting this thread was to get this all clarified.

Because of the surge of applications, the closing of the Rio program etc...I would not be surprised to see that the wait time has increased. In fact, it appears to have doubled!

However, I do hope you are correct.

When I applied at PVCC for the 02/19/10 date/time stamp group, the Nursing advisor, Beth told me there's about a 3 semester wait. Not sure what exactly that means though.

Unfortunately, the info given always seems a little foggy. The videos on the app status site aren't much help either and the whiteboard site(where the OP got info) is completely discouraging.

I have a feeling that I'll be looking at a long wait and I may need to re-evaluate my options, but that remains to be seen.

I'm thinking about emailing an advisor to see if they might be able to provide more insight.

Actually now I think it's gonna be worse because they just killed the Rio program.

Looks like PV is not available on the list at this point either.

Also I think the gateway part time isnt an option either :uhoh3: Yikes

I think the Rio program only accepted like 24 people anyhow, so I doubt it will make a huge impact on the wait time.

I believe you don't count the semester in which you apply, you start your count with the semester following... So if you turned in your application in January, were timestamped for February, you would count Fall semester as the technical first semester you wait. Like some of the other posters said, you can try to get into the partnership programs with the participating hospitals by working there, or there is always the banner fellows program which I believe you can apply for as many times as you want.

I would have to say based on the number of applicants in the system the wait quoted is correct. When I put my application in there were 1600 applicants in the database. My time date stamp was Oct. 17, 2008. I was just placed in the March 23, 2010 placement. Before the placement run on 3/23/10 there where 2501 applicants in the system, this includes all nursing applicants/hospital employee nursing applicants.

Placement is done by time date stamp only. As others have said gpa, net and hesi scores do not play a factor in placement. Those applicants who are more flexible and choose five programs have a better chance of getting a spot quicker. If you are dead set on a particular program you may have to wait longer.

Good luck everyone!

Also I think the gateway part time isnt an option either :uhoh3: Yikes

The Gateway part time program is only offered in the spring. That's why it doesn't appear on the list of options right now.
