  1. Hi Sonya. Happy New Year! Was out of town so couldnt reply. The skills videos actually should come with the Fundamentals of Nursing Theory Book as a set. I purchased mine from Amazon for $123 Here is the link. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0803627181/ref=oh_o01_s01_i00_details It looks like some of my previous post to this thread have been deleted. I wonder why..? Anyhow, looking forward to the orientation. Hope to meet you there!
  2. Hi starz girl. I will be driving from Goodyear. The drive with no traffic will be about 45 min. Ugh!!! I'm definitely dreading the days we have to be there early! The schedule does seem intense. I wonder if we will be put into groups and will have to be there on lab days or times only when our particular groups meet.(?) I dont think we will have to read much from our phones, just quick reference stuff, at least I hope! I'm considering a tablet as well. It would be a nice Christmas gift! With my luck though, I worry about the battery dying on me at the wrong time and that I would have to keep lugging the books around anyway. Not sure. But a tablet would be great to study from otherwise. I'm married as well with 2 kids, 16(boy) & 10(girl). Luckily my son just started driving so that will be a big help with trying to juggle our schedules. How long where you on the waitlist and did you finish the co-requisite classes?
  3. Hi starz girl! Looks like we'll be in class together! Yes, I know. I'm excited too, but overwhelmed with the cost of class, books and supplies. I'm debating on whether I should use my android phone or invest in an ipod. Just seems like too much to think about during the holidays. What part of the valley will you be commuting from?
  4. Hello. Is anyone else starting block 1 at Mesa-Boswell for Spring 2012 ?
  5. Hello. Everyone that got their date/time stamp on 2/19/10 has the same date stamp of 2/19/10. You are right. The time is hours, minutes, seconds and looks like 08:02:28. What I am wondering is if anyone know if this time stamp indicates number 228 from the particular pool of applicants from Nov - Jan.
  6. Joybella, Hello. You mentioned in an earlier post that you thought a 5-6 semester wait was based on spring, summer fall and winter quarters and that this would be equivalent to and 18 month wait. The way I understand this is that there are only 2 semesters a year, therefore the 5-6 semester wait would be 2 1/2 - 3 years. I know we were all being told the wait time was approximately 12-18 months but my concern now and the reason for starting this thread was to get this all clarified. Because of the surge of applications, the closing of the Rio program etc...I would not be surprised to see that the wait time has increased. In fact, it appears to have doubled! However, I do hope you are correct.
  7. Did anyone else get their date and time stamp placement onto the waiting list today? If so, do you care to share what it is? I am still trying to figure out how this works. 8:02:28 sounds to me like it is number 228 out of the pool of applicants from Nov- Jan 31st. Does anyone else understand it to be this way?
  8. Joyabella, Thanks for your response. Actually, for those that have already taken the NET, MCCCD will "grandfather in" and accept the scores 2 years from the date the test was passed. Also, placement on their wait list does not take into account GPA, or actual test scores. If you pass and meet their minimum test score requirement and pass the required prerequisites with a C or better you can be placed onto their wait list. My application was just accepted by them and since my last post I have found out they will be giving date and time stamps out on 2/19. This will determine an applicants actual place on the wait list. (not the gpa or test scores) Below is the information I pasted from the website that states there is a 5.5 semester wait! That is outrageous. Before, I always heard exactly what you stated, about the wait being 12-18 months. I'm curious if the 5.5 semesters is the new norm, or if that changes once the spring semester starts and those starting students get removed from the wait list. ...????? "Considering the totals from the grid above, it appears that placement for the upcoming semester is mostly complete except for a few possible last-minute replacement positions. That would mean that anyone not placed would be hoping for placement in Fall 2010 or beyond. Using the current semester capacity [485] as a benchmark and dividing into the number of applicants waiting [2586] plus the deferrals [94] (who will be back in the queue), we arrive at an estimated 5.5 semester wait (beginning with Fall 2010) for an applicant applying today."
  9. https://hceweb.maricopa.edu/CFIDE/docs/hcies/placementWtBd.cfm A 5-6 semester wait is absurd! Am I reading this correctly? Does anyone know this calculated wait time includes those applicants that have been placed but have not started the spring semester yet? Also, has anyone that turned in their application for the Jan 31, 2010 deadline heard anything or from anyone at MCCCD?
  10. akadimkz Hi! Its me again. I was wondering if I could somehow get that study guide from you as well. I think I want to take the HESI A2 because I am not happy with my NET scores. My problem is that I can't send PM's yet. Any ideas? By the way, thanks for the info about why I can't PM.
  11. akadimkz, Hello. I tried to reply to your PM but I am not allowed to for some reason. To answer your question, No, I couln't take it before the 60 days. They did specifically check and actually counted the days when I went in the second time. I understand the frustration your feeling with the test conversion ! If you can find the NET offerered elsewhere, MCCCD will accept those scores. It may cost a little more though. I wish you the best of luck with whatever test you take next. :)
  12. Hi. I did talk with an advisor and was told that I can only use the two scores from the 1 NET in which I passed both sections. Mercy, you were correct. Do you have any suggestions on where to retake the test as MCCCD will not have it available any longer? HJS27, I normally would "just let it go" but I want to improve my useable scores because I plan on applying for the competitive Banner Fellowship Program. The first time I took the test I scored a 100 in math and did really bad the second time around due to overconfidence. I didn't use my time wisely and ended up having to guess on the last 5-6 questions. :smackingf I was wondering what classes would be best to take after Bio205 that might help with a future transfer to the RN-BSN program at ASU. I did hear though that pathophysiology was already incorporated into the MCCCD nursing program and doesn't need to be taken beforehand. Can anyone offer some more insight into this or any other classes that should be taken? OCD Mom, I did contact an advisor that told me that they will still accept the NET scores on the applications while they make the transition to the HESI-A2. She also told me the new test may not be available until sometime in February so I just decided to re-take the NET since I was already familiar with it. Many schools did not have any NET tests left to give, but I found one of the last ones available at Rio. :tku: everyone for your replies!!
  13. Hello everyone. I am hoping someone can help me as I can't seem to find an answer to my question anywhere online. I too the NET test in Nov. and failed the reading but aced the math portions. I retook it the NET test recently an was able to pass the reading part but my math score decreased incredibly for some reason. I passed, but I'm still bummed because of this. I'm moving on to the next step and getting my MCCCD program application ready to turn in. I was wondering If can use my math score from the first NET and the reading from the second NET on the application. I do see all four scores recorded on my mymaricopa.edu profile, so all scores are verifiable. Does anyone know the rules on this? I would love to hear from you. Is there any written information on this anywhere? :)
  14. WalldancerNIT- That is good advice. Thanks. I took the test yesterday and was really upset. I'm feeling better today and can see things more clearly. I thought I was doing well on the reading comp. part but I lost track of time and had 10 questions to answer before time was up. arghh! I'm glad to hear the TEAS seems more reasonable. I'll give MCCCD a week or so before I call them again for some anwers. Thanks again!
  15. Hausfrau I'm sorry to hear that you did not pass the NET test. I took it today and failed the reading comprehension. I was also told that they were doing away with the NET test at the MCCCD schools as well. It took some phone calls, but I found out that they may be switching to the TEAS test. I am frustrated as I should be dedicating my 60 day waiting period to studying for a test I should be able to retake in January, except the problem seems to be that I don't know what test that will be; the NET (which I have the study guide for) or the TEAS, which sounds to me, is more difficult. Is this really fair? Does anyone have any advice on how I should proceed to prepare for a test I need to take in January while not knowing which test it will be? Again, Hausfrau, I'm sorry for your test results... I sounds like we are in the same situation.
