Hi Everyone!
I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.
A bit about myself:
I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.
Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)
A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..
Currently taking the prerequisites...
I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!
Let's get this thread going
@cupteel, Thanks for letting us know! Did they say how many people per group? And does Toronto also notify by one-chance phone call? Or will they contact us by email? They told me 20-30 people per group so i really doubt anyone past the 1st group on the wait-list would get in. I believe their primary way of contacting you would be through email, so just keep checking that :)
20-30?!! That's crazy! I wonder how many people they even accept into the program.
January entry to university of Calgary after degree nursing for 2015 is suspended. (Check their website). York offers a collaborative nursing program staring in January through kings college. I don't want to be a cloud of negativity but, I noticed these were mentioned in the forum and wanted to bring clarity in case anyone plans to apply to Calgary. Has anyone applied to any collaborative programs and are they just as competitive as 2nd entry?
My last 10 FCE are B+. I have 3 years experience working in Heath promotion, diabetes education, exercise therapy for special needs children, research assistant positions at hospitals and with my previous profs. they didn't give a reason for why I was rejected. My gpa is on the lower end and most likely the reason why I am not considered.
@Hope15. I think you might be looking at University of Alberta???
University of Calgary has 3 options 1) for students out of high school 2) for transfer students and 3) for degree holders. From what I can tell none of them are suspended but I do know the University of Alberta has suspended their program for degree holders for 2015.
York is one of the over schools yes. There should be more but I haven't has time to do an extensive search yet on others, although I am sure there are some
