I would be interested in hearing anyone's thoughts about the programs at UofT or Western... If you have gone through/are currently going through one of the programs if you want to share your experience or if you want to compare the two programs from things you have either heard or read... Thanks :)

@Mayaxo Join the facebook group I created: UWO Compressed Time Frame BScN Class of 2017 facebook.com/groups/113305762336004/ I don't know anything about the Queens program but there are a couple previous CTF nursing students that have already completed the program or are just finishing up the program at Western (kind of like mentors) that are in the facebook group and would be able to answer a bunch of your questions. That will help you get a better idea of the program at Western.

@yolandabecool I'm not sure who to email at UofT but if you need to speak with someone about an issue you are better of calling from what I have read. They hardly ever respond by email and if they do its a generic email but sometimes you can get lucky and get someone good on the phone that will try to answer any questions you have. If you are emailing/calling them to ask about your application and their decision tho they will just say "all of our applicants will hear from us by June 30th" @butter413 I don't know if they have decided yet but they are in the process of doing so. If you read the thread from last year people that were rejected or placed in the second or third waitlist group (I was placed in the third waitlist group) received an email from UofT on June 17th. People who were accepted and in the first waitlist group didn't hear till a couple days later. I imagine that they were still making final decisions of who to accept and who to put in the first group waitlist up till the end. They receive a lot of applications and accept a lot of people into the program, not to mention that they have to review everyones supp app, so it makes sense that it takes awhile. Keep your head up and I wish you the best of luck!

@ butter413 From what I know from applying last year and reading the thread from last year your application to uoft will say "to be reviewed" until a week or so after you receive an email from uoft saying you got accepted waitlisted or rejected. They apparently do not update the uoft site until way later. The "to be reviewed" status does not mean they haven't look at your marks yet, they just don't update it until later. Last year I heard back from uoft (waitlisted) on the 17th of June I believe. So just under 3 weeks and we will know :)

@ yolandabecool I am glad you find them encouraging :). I can honestly say this thread is the only thing that got me through the acceptance round last year. I honestly checked this site a million times a day. It is comforting to know that people are in the same boat as you and know what you are experiencing. I remember last year at this time I started to dislike weekends because it meant there was no chance I would hear from a school. If you don't get in this year (and I hope you do) you should also consider York or Trent. They both have the compressed program and the average seems to be slightly lower than Western and I believe they also only consider grades. There is also University of Calgary that does a January admission for a compressed program if you don't want to wait a full year. I know it's far and would be a financial burden but I imagine it would be a pretty neat experience :)

@tdmah Don't be negative. Work your ass off and finish that course ASAP! There is a chance that there will still be spots in the program wen you finish it is your work like crazy to get it done. If you think about it UofT doesn't send out their final round till June 30th. People that previously accepted Western will get accepted to UofT and cancel their acceptance to Western (I know if I get into uoft I am cancelling Western). Your average is high that you will be at the top of the wait list for Western and if you get your course finished in time you can still get into Western for Sept. They call people off the wait list into August. Read the thread from last year and the year before, students were accepted late into the summer! WORK LIKE MAD!!! Make the sacrifice of turning down hanging out with friends and getting lots of sleep. I'll buy you a beer on campus if you pull it off, I believe you can do it. @yolandabecool Western doesn't care if you are part time or full time. They will just calculate your average for your most recent 10 FCE and average them. However, say you have 9 FCE in your past 2 years and they need to go one more semester back to get your other FCE they will take all the marks in that semester to make your average even if your average now consists of 11FCE (Hope that makes sense). I'm not sure how other schools look at part time tho. @fbuld87 Sounds like we are in a similar position. Congrats on your offer. I would never consider it a waste of money if it helps you get into the program you want. Luckily I only needed to take a couple courses. Last year my average calculated by Western was about 83.35% and the final cut off after the waitlist offers of admission was 83.5% (both of these numbers might be give or take a little I can't remember exactly). I was VERY close last year so I just needed a few more courses to up my average. I worked hard and got 95's which brought my average up the amount I needed. Best of luck to everyone still waiting. I know how stressful this is!!!

I hope this message will help someone... I applied to u of t and western last year and got waitlisted for both. Unfortunately, I never made it off the wait list for either school. I took more courses over this past year to increase my average and raised my average the best I could. I got accepted to Western today. I am still waiting to hear back from uoft, but just know that if you don't get in this year, there is always next year. I was devastated last year but took that and just tried harder to increase my average and this year I will be attending a nursing school. Keep your head up if you are still waiting to hear, and if it doesn't happen, work your but off to get in next year! :)
