Hi Everyone!
I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.
A bit about myself:
I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.
Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)
A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..
Currently taking the prerequisites...
I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!
Let's get this thread going
@Lalalene I am following this thread intensely like you are. You are asking all the questions i want answers too and I appreciate your perseverance! I am rooting for you all the way! i am also on the wait list at western and they calculated my last 2 years gpa as 83.5. Hoping for that phone call!
@jennyjen88
Thanks for your kind words. I would call my activity on this site more like stalking haha but I am glad to hear that it is helping other people. My average calculated at Western is 83.35. If what A_Axelrod said above is true about groups being accepted instead of just individual people there is a chance we could be accepted together. I keep imagining that phone call.
I wish you the best!!
Hey I have also received the email from UofT that said I was on the wait-list. Are you going to email them to see where you stand on the wait-list? I'm so sad that we are waitlisted because that just keeps our hopes up...i hate having to check my email religiously and not finding anything sent from them
I know what you mean. I can't decide if keeping hope is good or bad for me in the end. From the sounds of it it seems like a lot of ppl have gotten wait listed. Do you think they will tell us where we are on the wait list?
I don't mean to be a downer on this front but my motto is always hope for the best prepare for the worst. I know that UofT has like a $500 deposit that people have to pay when they accept their offer so I can't imagine many people changing their mind after they accept.

Totally agree with you. And in the email it says they have until Septemebr 5th. Even if this goes into August, that doesn't give much time to sort out living arrangements for those of us not in the area!
Yeah I'm not too hopeful at this point, but at least I think this means we weren't flat out rejected? At least we have the right type of supplementary application and close grades to what they're looking for. Next year, we'll just try harder!! I just emailed them asking, hopefully they'll give me a reply soon. I'll let you guys know what they say!

This definitely helps! Just like you said, now we know what's needed if we end up having to reapply! :)
akpl have you heard from UofT yet as I remember you saying it was your first choice?
Thanks lalalene! I haven't yet, not even a waitlist email I've been lurking on every possible website (here, OUAC, UofT) to no avail. Good luck everyone and don't forget to post if your status at UofT changes please!
