Hi Everyone!
I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.
A bit about myself:
I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.
Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)
A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..
Currently taking the prerequisites...
I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!
Let's get this thread going
I am an external applicant with CGPA of B (Borderline) and last 30 credits (B+) according to york scale [finishing up my philosophy pre-req, have final exam for that course next week).
York just updated myfile and I got Reviewed-Unsuccessful-program full for 2nd entry nursing program. so, does this mean I am not placed on waiting list?? Do I have chance to get in incase if any applicants drop out from 2nd entry nursing??
I called york and they said program is full. I am kind of surprised because last year they were sending offers till end of July. how can the program be full at this time??
That doesn't seem to make any sense about York... People could definitely still drop, so you'd think there would be a waiting list! And I do the same checking emails, OUAC, student centers, etc. It' driving me insane!
Are you just waiting to hear from UofT? If you are waiting to hear from other schools what are they?

I am sorry this may hurt but it is the truth. It seems to me you were deemed as unsuccessful. This is the same as a rejection. There is a wait list bc I have friends that made the wait list but you did not. They will probably send offers out to the ppl on the wait list until July as people who were sent acceptances change their mind, accept another school etc. Perhaps because you didn't have your pre-reqs completed in enough time because your grades seems good.
Keep your head up, did you apply to other schools?

Sadly I got rejected from Mac and Western so I'm just waiting on UoT. Considering the competitiveness and the fact I was unsuccessful in getting in to the other schools, I'm not super hopeful about UoT. I'm kind of just hoping something in my supplemental app or extracurriculars sticks out for them.
I think a lot of us made the mistake of not applying to enough schools because we didn't realize HOW competitive the program is. Luck_r I am sure if you apply next year you will be accepted because you will have your pre reqs done. I honestly think it is because you completed them too late. Your grades are good enough

You could still have a good shot at UofT because they don't just focus on grades. I don't know about Mac but Western is strictly grades.
Do you mind if i ask your average for the last two years to get rejected from western?

Yeah I only have a 78 in the last two years as I foolishly took some difficult courses in third year thinking I'd enjoy them. Made a first year mistake lol. My last year is 82.6. So I have a fifth year lined up if all else fails, but I just finished my degree. And you're definitely right about underestimating how competitive the accelerated programs are. I also know of so many people who have applied this year!!

I also have not heard anything from UoT! It also says "application received - to be reviewed" when I login as well. I really hope the waitlist doesn't carry past June 30th, if there even is one yet. The waiting is so nerve-racking.
