Second-Entry Nursing Programs - 2014 Hopeful

Published

Hi Everyone!

I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.

A bit about myself:

I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.

Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)

A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..

Currently taking the prerequisites...

I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!

Let's get this thread going

I also still have not heard anything from UofT! :(

What does your status check say. Mine says "Application received- to be reviewed". I feel like that is a bad sign since it is June 12th and it still hasn't been reviewed????

Yeah mine says the same as well. I don't think the status changes until a decision has been made.

We should keep in touch and update each other. Waiting is sooooo hard, I think I am driving myself crazy. Have you applied anywhere else?

Do you think there is a wait list for UofT?

I feel ya! :( Waiting is definitely getting harder, but on the bright side atleast there's only 2 weeks left until we hear back for sure! I'm sure there's a waiting list that will be put together - just not sure if this happens before or after June 30th.

I think by June 30th we will either receive an offer of admission, a wait list off or a rejection. Heres to hoping for the former.

Did you apply anywhere else and have heard anything from them?

No just UofT, so definitely hoping for the best!!

It is comforting to know that someone else has not heard anything from UofT yet. I was beginning to think I was alone. What was your final year average, do you have a degree already?

I am not on a wiat-list either and I only applied to UfT which I actually regret now. I did not know that degree holders have an advantage. I guess being so confident before applying was not a good thing!

I just finished my undergrad in Health sciences. My final year average was an 8.2 on uOttawa's scale...not sure what that comes out to on a 4.0 scale haha

It is okay, we are all in this together. Let's just update each other when we do hear something so the others can know they will hear soon. I am super nervous but keeping my fingers crossed.

Don't worry guys - I haven't heard from U of T yet either. Hang in there!
