Second-Entry Nursing Programs - 2014 Hopeful

Published

Hi Everyone!

I'm starting this topic for those who are applying to 2nd-entry programs, to start in 2014.

A bit about myself:

I'll be applying to University of Ottawa and University of Toronto.

Graduated with a Social Science degree from Ottawa U w/ 7.2 CGPA (aka 3.33 on 4.0 scale, or a B+)

A lot of community involvement in health promotion, youth counseling programs, women's health research..

Currently taking the prerequisites...

I'm kind of nervous about the applications because I know how competitive these programs are... Any advice from current 2-year BScN students would be great!

Let's get this thread going

Hi Everyone,

I've applied to the second-entry nursing programs at Trent, Queens, Western, and McMaster. So far I've been offered admission to Trent and Queens. I've accepted the offer at Queens and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm waiting to hear from Western still because it is a little closer to home than the rest but I can honestly say I'd be just as happy to go to Queens in September, as it is a really great school.

Just some info about my stats... I carry a 3.7 cGPA and am in my last year of BSc in Neuroscience. I have a lot of background in research particularly in neurodegenerative diseases and volunteering with children and adults with mental illness/disability.

I'm passionate about nursing and want to congratulate everyone and wish you all the best of luck!

If there is an Queens AST Nursing 2016 group, I would love to join, so let me know!

For those of you have received U of T offers when do your offers expire? Has anyone received an offer today by chance?

Has anyone who received an offer to U of T gotten anything in the mail? I'm really curious about what they're sending....

No mail yet. Hopefully Monday... But according to last year's forum, we'll need to make a $500 dollar deposit to accept the offer.

I am also waiting for the package. It's been a week..still nothing..:nailbiting:

Congrats to all that have been accepted thus far! I was late to apply this year, and only was able to apply to Trent. After some research, I'm actually very excited about this school, and am wondering:

- if anyone has accepted Trent Compressed Nursing

- if you were offered a place in TCN, how long did you have to accept your offer?

I'm trying to figure out how many spots have been taken so far, and therefore my chances of getting in considering my late® application.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Meloh,

I got an offer Feb 27 and I have until April 4 to accept. I will not be accepting however, as I got an offer to UWO. Best of luck!

PS. A funny thing that I found is that I don't have a way to decline Trent's offer. UWO's offer on OUAC has an 'accept' option and a 'decline' option, but Trent's offer on OUAC only has an 'accept' option, so I guess I just have to let it expire. Anyone know why that is?

Thats interesting, I suppose I'll have to practice patience as other's offers slowly expire over the upcoming month(s). Thanks for the information, akpl!

This is a silly question I know but for those who received offers from UofT, what time of day did they come? If they send all the offers for each day out at 10am for example, it would save me from neurotically refreshing my inbox the rest of the day :)

Strangely, 3:53pm on a Tuesday. I hope you hear from them soon!

Also the Facebook group should be working now. Bloomsburg Faculty of Nursing (UofT) Class of 2016

Hi guys! I have also been accepted to uOft! I don't se when we have to confirm by and how?

Congrats! We'll be classmates in September! I think UofT gives the deadline in our admission package that they're mailing to us (I've been waiting almost a week and still haven't received mine yet). After receiving my acceptance email, it took 2 days for my status to be updated on JoinUofT and 3 days to be updated on OUAC. I completed my 'acceptance' of the admission offer on my OUAC page, so that could be an initial step you can take this week. The OUAC deadline was June 2nd, so I assume it's the same or earlier for UofT.

I still don't see the UofT Class of 2016 Facebook page...
