Seattle's UWMC/Swedish Nursing Residency 2016

Published

Hello!

I hope I am posting this question in the correct thread/section. I'm a senior nursing student from Cleveland, about to graduate in Jan 2016. I am looking extremely hard to find a nurse residency in the Seattle area. I was confused about UW's nursing residency program. It seems that it's listed as a "job posting" rather than a typical application. For example, UCLA's RN Residency program is very clear. Applications are due Oct 5-11 and interview invites sent out in November and you will hear back if you are accepted in December.

I'm just a bit confused about UW's program and how it works.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if Swedish's Residency program dates are only in July, August and November? Will I have to wait that long and go on without a job (once I pass my NCLEX) until July?

Thank you for taking time to read this! Any information would be extremely helpful!

anyone hear back for NICU or peds? good luck on your interviews everyone!

got a call from the recruiter today. she just updated me on the status and that the program will start on oct 24. they are currently scheduling interviews so just waiting for that. anyone hear any other details? how was the panel interview?

Has anyone else had odd experiences with the interviews? My first HR interview called to reschedule about 1 hour after they were originally supposed to call me.... then I was never given a date/time for my panel interview and got a call out of the blue (which I had not prepared for) for that interview

I had a panel interview 2 weeks ago with Issaqua for medsurg and they just asked me for another interview with first hill on the 13th. I dont know if I was rejected from the last panel interview or not:( been waiting for this whole process since July

Yes the recruiter called me and left a voicemail the morning of an interview:( and i called twice and left an email for another opportunity for an interview, she said they were meeting up the 13th

Hey Andrea! Did u request for another interview from the recruiter or they scheduled for another interview without requesting for it? And may I know what unit in First Hill?

Hey everyone! For those who got a job offer from Swedish for their residency program, how long did u have to wait after your panel interview? I had a panel interview a week ago and never heard from them yet. Do they usually notify you even though u didn't get the job? I'm anxiously waiting for an answer lol

Hey @ZAR963, its for General Surgical unit at First Hill

At least you guys are getting interviews!! Still nothing for me :sniff:

Emerson, they scheduled another interview for me without me asking for anything which is the sweetest thing. I have been waiting 2 and a half weeks from my panel interview without a response. I am in Medsurg for First Hill next Tuesday for another panel interview. I wonder if I should stop hoping for the issaqua position.

Specializes in Surgical/Trauma ICU.

Andrea, I would take that as a good sign cause they probably are deciding who wants/needs you most!

My interview is Monday for First Hill ICU (originally thought it was step down because that's what the first email said before she rescheduled). Definitely my dream job so very nervous! If anyone has tips for the panel interview it would be appreciated!!

I had my first interview the beginning of July so I've been waiting patiently hoping for the best!

Good luck everyone!

Zar963 thank you so much! So you think it's normal not to get an answer for 2 and half weeks?

For my first panel interview, there were 6 nurses and a manager. They introduced each other and then asked me "tell me about yourself" then the members of the team went taking turns asking me one question. The questions were mostly all background and experience type questions, like the conflict question and the "anticipating a conflict and resolving the conflict before it occurs." two nurses asked similar questions about your weakness.

I was extremely nervous! I did not appear confident and I am so worried that didn't help me :(
