Seattle's UWMC/Swedish Nursing Residency 2016

Published

Hello!

I hope I am posting this question in the correct thread/section. I'm a senior nursing student from Cleveland, about to graduate in Jan 2016. I am looking extremely hard to find a nurse residency in the Seattle area. I was confused about UW's nursing residency program. It seems that it's listed as a "job posting" rather than a typical application. For example, UCLA's RN Residency program is very clear. Applications are due Oct 5-11 and interview invites sent out in November and you will hear back if you are accepted in December.

I'm just a bit confused about UW's program and how it works.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew if Swedish's Residency program dates are only in July, August and November? Will I have to wait that long and go on without a job (once I pass my NCLEX) until July?

Thank you for taking time to read this! Any information would be extremely helpful!

They probably need to finish interviews before the units can decide who gets you. That is my assumption. Both units I interviewed for said end of the month.

Mine was for medsurg :) both at first hill and issaquah, I haven't applied for any other residency program and my ilcense expires in October:(

Ah gotcha. Good luck! I haven't applied for other programs either

I'm really hoping we get answers soon because this waiting time is killing me. haha

Lol me too, especially because I'm moving in less than 2 weeks! Hopefully to Seattle! Haha

@ZAR963 Are you moving to Seattle no matter what? My relocation to Seattle is contigent upon getting a job offer from Swedish. lol

I think so. If I don't get Swedish I'm just gonna wing it haha. Been in LA too long...

I'm really surprised more people aren't posting on here about this residency btw

I know. I'm surprised too. Where is everybody? haha I think i wanna move too. Let me know if you still need roommate haha. If we dont get in, we can try again for the Feb 2017 cohort lol

UPDATE: Swedish called me for another interview for a different department for next week. I'm so happy. Better odds of landing a spot for the residency.

Yay!! When is it and what unit? Is this your second or third unit interview?

Interview on tuesday for general medical unit. This will be my second unit interview. I feel blessed that they scheduled me another interview for a different department.
