Seattle University APNI 2015

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Well, I know it's early.

Anyone applying for 2015 start?!?

Congrats on being done with that! I'm not planning on turning mine in for a couple weeks... my essay is in pieces, and I just got done with the GRE on Monday so all my time and effort was going into that!

I just posted this question on the PLU ELMSN 2015 thread, but in case some of you aren't on there..

Anyone have suggestions for formatting the resume?! And whether we should keep it to one page like a typical resume or can leave it as a CV....help!

Hello.... soo I left my resume the way it always is. I didn't change the formatting. I have several different categories - the usual ones: work experience, volunteering, education.

My resume is two pages. There was no way I could fit it all on one page. PLU seems pretty relaxed about their application process so I wouldn't stress about it.

However, one thing I did find while shortening my Seattle U letter of intent is that I'm really wordy. I tend to repeat things in different phrasing. So after shortening my letter I felt inspired to go through everything else. I did shorten my resume as far as describing things. I'm trying to be more "to the point." I keep thinking that these schools have SO MANY applications to sift through I don't want them to disregard mine because it's "too much." I want to be to the point and memorable.

Okay no I'm being wordy on here too... ;)

Hope any of this helps.

I'm finishing up the final touches on my PLU statement of purpose and submitting that today too. Then I will be ALL DONE. I cannot wait to say the least...

Congrats on nearly being done!

Yeah, PLU has a description of what should be on the Resume... "Submit a resume that includes your employment history; significant academic, professional, and community achievements;honors and awards" but I assume those are just guidelines and we're allowed to list more than just those.

I think resume length depends. I kept mine to one page, but it is very "full." I also am in my early twenties (just graduated with my BS) so I don't have years and years and years of work experience. My resume was 2 pages before I edited it, but I know that admissions committees have sooooo many applications to filter through, I thought keeping it brief would be best :)

My resume is 2 and 1/3 pages and I think it's okay depending on what size font you use because it's suggested to use at least size 10 font even for searching for jobs. I feel like I don't want to cut back on my resume because it's actually one of the areas I can showcase all that I have done, especially since I feel in my opinion that my grades aren't that competitive.

I agree with you @May25 on being wordy I've been told in my English classes I need to write more concisely I tend to write super long sentences haha.

One last thing I wanted to add because we had the great discussion on Letter of Intent length.

I submitted mine at 2.5 pages. Even though they said two at the information session, there are no strict guidelines, so going over half a page won't be an end all be all in my opinion.

My feelings as of now - It's already submitted so OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND.

Now to study for micro... -_-

Specializes in psychiatric nursing.

Ahh.. Hello~

I'm also applying for SU's APNI for FNP. Sounds like most of you are about done with the application. T^T

I'm probably going to have to turn it in in the next couple weeks. I just requested my recommendations, so it'll probably be a while until those go through. I feel like I might be one of the youngest applying to this program because I'm still in undergrad, but I'll be graduating this year. I'm planning on only applying to SU, so definitely putting 'all my eggs in one basket' haha

May25, honestly they don't have specific guidelines on the application and I even e-mailed the graduate office and they told me whatever it says on the application is all you have to follow. I even asked them for suggestions of what it should be like. If it doesn't say they can't penalize us for writing over 2 pages.

And I'm still pretty young too koreansnow. I only graduated from undergrad about a year ago.

Is anyone uploading an "additional document"??

Is anyone uploading an "additional document"??

I did.

I was participating in an undergraduate research project and then I dropped it because of the death of a very close family friend and I just didn't have time for "extra" things on top of my classes at that time. So I just BRIEFLY explained the "W" on my transcript but that was it. Nothing fancy...

Does anyone think that my personal statement is too long if its 12 font, single spaced, and 1 inch margins and it's 1.5 pages? Double spaced it's 3 pages.
