Seattle University APNI 2015

Published

Well, I know it's early.

Anyone applying for 2015 start?!?

Hey, I actually didn't take the CLEP for my math requirement. I used my AP Calculus score and the director lady told me it was okay so if you took that in high school you can use it. I'm happy to hear that your interview went well, May25! :)

@May25

I am glad your interview went well :D I also had mine today and it wasn't as smooth as I expected!

check out this link for CLEP exam prep: https://clep.collegeboard.org/test-preparation

Have any Psych applicants been asked to interview for the 28th? (Or any other day coming up?)

Thanks!

@May25, I am taking the CLEP College Algebra test on March 17th but have been studying for months ughhhhh. It is not as easy as I thought it was going to be (from posts and reviews) so I am signing up for a Precalculus class as well as the Statistics class at a community college just in case I don't pass the CLEP. It is nice because you find out immediately if you pass CLEP (have to get a 50- get 30/60 questions right) and you can't retake it for another 3 months :/.

I was so fixated on getting in I pushed off the math classes until last minute. So to answer your question, yes your post makes sense but it sucks because North Seattle CC (or other local CC) no longer offers the class you need to be the equivalent so looks like (to me but could be wrong) like you need to take Precalculus?

atki, that is so great to hear. I am taking it next month and was super nervous. So thank you!!!! And congrats on passing it :)

Hi All -

I am still waiting to hear from Seattle too! Just want to thank everyone who has been posting because it has really settled my nerves knowing that something is happening on Seattle's end! Has anyone been accepted into the Midwifery program? I am not on Facebook so I have been unable to check those posts as well. If anyone can give me an update on that program and if anyone has been interviewed/accepted, I'd appreciate it so much!

Also, I'm getting a bit anxious to hear since I have already accepted into one program (MGH in Boston) who needs to hear by March 11th on a decision, however I want to have all my options in front of me before I make a final decision on where to attend! Can anyone give me advice on what they are doing in these situations?

I'm in the same boat. I was accepted to Vanderbilt, waitlisted for MGH, and haven't heard anything from Seattle. And since I already live in the Puget Sound area I was kind of hoping that I'd get in there.

@phxtosea, the class is called " business precalculus" at Pierce College. It's Math 147. I don't know what the classes are called outside of Pierce. The Pierce college military offers it online

Well, after a great deal of soul searching and number crunching I'm 99% sure that I'm accepting my FNP offer at Seattle U. I've heard back from every school except Yale but unless they offer me some ridiculously awesome financial aid package (which isn't likely to happen) I'm heading to Seattle U. How about others with offers pending?

Hi all - I'm having a difficult time deciding on which school to go to for Psych NP. I'm in between Seattle U and Columbia (I live in SF Bay Area). Any advice or suggestions from anyone in a similar position?

It's hard because it's such a personal decision and what's important to me may not be important to you. I have kids so the cost and quality of childcare was a large factor as was my husband's ability to find a good paying job. I also considered the cost of each program including the cost of living in the area. A big consideration was also where I'd like to live after graduation since a lot of people get jobs through their practicum placements. I really tried not to get hung up on the "ranking" of each school since the way that US news ranks nursing schools is completely subjective in my mind (they send around a survey to all the nursing schools and just ask them to rank the reputation of other schools). Instead I tried to focus on things like the nclex pass rate and national boards pass rate for the ARNP portion. In the end I'm turning down better ranked schools that offered me scholarships to go to Seattle U. That said, you ask someone else and they'll come up with a totally different thought process :)

For everyone awaiting decisions, I'm sure you were probably already told this, but in case they didn't tell you I will repeat what I was told at my interview.

I was told that they will score my interview and add my interview score in with all my other scores... gre, gpa, etc. From there they will add up my total score and rank me against everyone else in FNP. From there they will send out a "congrats you're accepted" or "congrats you're waitlited." They told me I should expect this information the LAST WEEK of March or FIRST WEEK or April. So that's currently about a month of more away until I am supposed to expect to hear from them.

I was personally hoping they were just saying this more or less to give themselves time and then if things runs behind they have given themselves a cushion. But really, after interviews how long does it take to input a number and make a numerical list? I'm hoping to hear before then.

@may25 I'm really hoping that they're over estimating that time frame because that's crazy. They will no doubt loose some really good applicants if they end up making people wait that long for a response.
