I've been a reader of these message boards for some time and thought I'd finally start participating. I didn't see a thread for the SU APNI 2011 application process, so I thought that as the deadline is this week I would start a thread and see how everyone's process went. I'm interested in the primary care np track myself.
hahahaha....I am also so sick of reading that. I check at LEAST three times a day. Does anyone know when they are interviewing until? I feel like they can't be going for too much longer if they started Feb. 1st.
Tues, Feb 15 sounds right to me. Don't know if I read that somewhere, heard it, or just made it up in my own head. Haha.
Flaneur-I am pretty sure that you are right about them doing interviews until the 15th. When I received my interview invite it actually said they would be interviewing Feb 2nd to Feb 15th. I would guess, however, that it depends on staffing available to do interviews. I know that I was rescheduled based on a conflict. If that happens to too many people I would think that might push it back a few more days.
This waiting is killing me!! I read that last year applicants received notice by snail mail. I know that some schools call each student and others send both e-mial and snail mail notices. Does anybody know how we are supposed to hear?
Hi lolita,
I can tell that this has been a frustrating and confusing process for you. You are clearly very well prepared and dedicated to the healthcare profession, and you have a lot of experience.
mef and beeb aren't the only ones who still have prereqs in process that received interviews. I am taking my microbiology now, as well. I'm not certain that having prereqs in process is an overwhelming factor for the admissions committee. SU is a very unique school in what they emphasize in their education. I'd be happy to email you to talk to you more about my experience going there as an undergrad student, if you'd like.

I too am finishing up my microbiology class this semester.
To flauner and others,
Wow, they emphasized last year and even 2 nights ago at their info. session that all yr pre-reqs must be finished. That's why I completed them in 3 quarters and worked so hard to get all As. You are right Flauner, maybe they are after sth else. I'm even burning more now. Tnx for yr email I will email u.

Lolita- when you went to the informational session was it an member of the office faculty or teaching? Did they tell you that the 180 were the total number of applicants or only to the FNP track. I heard from one admin person that there were nearly 300 applicants total and then in my interview was told 278. Still not major competitive but more so than 180. Don't let that get you down regardless. Did you mention in your letter why you were opting to change from going to medical school to an NP program? It may be that they misinterpret your interest or passion. Maybe they see it like this is a second (hopefully easier) chance, and not your first choice. I have been mentioning to family and friends that I am surprised I was chosen for an interview when there is somebody like you in the mix, and this has been kind of their thinking. If your passion for nursing is clear in your personal statement then I have no other guesses! I wish you luck with the CNA work. I have been doing it for the last year and I believe that it will either solidify or change your desire to be in the nursing field. Keep your head up, and know that no decisions are final yet! Don't underestimate the power of positive thinking!!
