I'm interested in applying to the APNI program at SU. I've been reading a lot of the forums from other years, and have found it's quite competitive! I would love to hear from other people, and their track. Or if someone is in the program and has any advice about what they like in an applicant. Thank you!
@T1DnurseG That's awesome!! That must be such a relief. Just out of curiosity, what do you plan to do (post grad) with your degree? :)
I was thinking of applying for the AGNP track if I were to possibly open my own nursing home but decided I would rather do the FNP track as it fits better with my, now, current goals!
Just got my acceptance into the APNI AGNP track today. I was waiting to hear about maybe getting an interview, but signed into my apptracker and had access to the acceptance letter! Surprised I was offered admission without an interview, but maybe they are doing this for the AGNP track since it is one of the least popular.I accepted admission and can't wait to start!
If you don't mind could you tell us what is shown on your app tracker? So my status says: pending faculty review and I have my interview this Saturday. Where did it say on the app tracker that you have access to your acceptance letter?
So post-grad I really want to go into primary care for adult/Medicare ages. I have also considered looking into a certification for diabetes education and doing predominantly diabetes management and/or going the palliative care/hospice route. All three areas are interests of mine I want to explore more during the program.
So on Monday my apptracker said 'Pending Faculty Review' then it switched to 'Under Review' and then it switched to 'Click Here to View your Admission Decision' which lead to the acceptance letter and further instructions. All of these status updates were in that same field that says 'Pending Faculty Review'
@Shipo good luck, I am sure you will do great! I think the AGNP track is such a great pathway especially since I know for sure I do not want to treat children.
@NWguy28 honestly, do not know how this is possible. I frankly thought it was going to be a denial letter since I hadn't interviewed yet. I have (as I am sure all of us have) put in years of work to get to the point to even apply, along with extensive clinical experience, bilingual in Spanish, leadership, mentorship experience and a lot of volunteer experience to even get to this point, so it feels like I can breathe knowing all the hard work finally payed off.
@T1DnurseG. First and foremost, congratulations! I don't want my confusion to minimize the importance of your accomplishment.
I have been in Healthcare Since 2007. I've worked as a Psych Specialist after high school, CNA, Wound Care Specialist, Surgical Assistant, Family Practice Assistant, Oncology, MedSurg, Orthopedics, Emergency Department, and I'm a community Educator with American Bone Health. I currently work as a Homeless youth Counselor, but it's safe to say that I also have extensive medical experience.
I hold over 30 different specialty healthcare certificates that span between NDNQI, Clinical Nursing, Behavioral Health, Harm Reduction, And crisis models.
I have personally spearheaded several public health initiatives in the City of Seattle, as well as acted as healthcare consult for some area Skilled Nursing homes.
Moving from the field, I tutored RN Nursing at my Local Technical college for 2 years, and spent 2 quarters Co-teaching Medical Math And Pathophysiology.
I have traveled to both Africa and Peru, where I contributed greatly to Both Public Health And Surgical Teams.
So yea, I'm not new to healthcare. Still, I had to interview.
