I'm interested in applying to the APNI program at SU. I've been reading a lot of the forums from other years, and have found it's quite competitive! I would love to hear from other people, and their track. Or if someone is in the program and has any advice about what they like in an applicant. Thank you!
@Wishful4FNP in preparing for my interview, I'm mainly focusing on what I wrote in my personal statement, and my resume. Just knowing why you want to work as FNP, know your goals, know your personal mission, etc. Plus I think the questions will be different for each applicant since we are all different. Truthfully, I am nervous, but I've already accepted that I can't really "prepare," they will know I'm nervous, and that I can answer their questions to the best of my ability and there's not much else I can do :)
Something that has put my mind at ease is knowing that we worked hard. We worked hard in our career, in our academic careers, and we have high aspirations with a want to help others which is why we're applying for this program. I believe in myself that I will get there eventually, and if the outcome of this school is not what I want, then I will continue to believe in myself but also believe that the incoming cohort this year is amazingly qualified and will be great NP's!
@albipes I did it on here in the NP forum! I'm not on FB lol I titled it Seattle University RN-DNP 2018... Unfortunately no other RN's have posted on it though. Thank you so much for your response!!! That makes me very happy to hear! What track did you apply to? What type of nursing are you currently doing?
I applied to the psych DNP track. I have a BA in psychology from UW, a BS in nursing from Seattle University, and I currently work on a med surg unit that is kinda known as the "step down ICU" at UW Medical Center... I have a lot of interests but being a psych DNP is my dream!!! I have a background in neuro and the mind body connection just fascinates me. :)
