Hi All,
I remember when I was applying to Seattle U's APNI (Advanced Practice Nursing Immersion) program a couple of years ago there was no information for me out there! So I wanted to circle back and answer any questions applicants or potential applicants might have. I finished the APNI portion last spring and now am in the first year of the primary care FNP/AGNP track.
Good luck to all.
Thanks @pmhnpbound! That would be great if we had the opportunity to talk and/or meet with current students.
I created a facebook group called "Seattle University APNI 2019." If you've been accepted feel free to join it! I'm excited to see who everyone is.
@davignonaimee Thanks for making the FB page! I joined today. Looking forward to getting to know everyone! ?
Hey APNI Hopefuls,
I'm a student in the class of 2021. The Seattle University Nurses for Sexual and Reproductive Justice and the Triangle Club are hosting a panel discussion on providing health care to trans patients on SU campus in April. If you're interested in seeing some of the side projects that our classmates are working on, you should come!!
Best,
C
So I followed up and Oz basically said that when I interviewed, there weren't actually any available spots in the PMHNP cohort, which was definitely not clear in the email offering the opportunity to interview. So I was basically interviewing to stay on the waitlist(?) which now feels like a complete waste of time. I've been accepted at three other programs, so I plan on withdrawing my application. Good luck to everyone!

I am feeling like that could be valuable? Also does the letter they write allow you to practice in other states or just WA?
isun, this is a great question. I'm curious if you heard any answers from the department about this? I have a sister who is a midwife in Philadelphia, and her school required that the students work as an RN for a year prior to moving on to the MSN portion. It seems like valuable experience.

Hi All! Congratulations to everyone who has been admitted so far. Good luck to those who have upcoming interviews, who are on the waitlist, and who have a tough decision on where to attend if received multiple admissions.
I am coordinating with faculty/staff to figure out a way to try to get in contact with you all and/or to meet you all before orientation to address questions such as these.
I would strongly suggest/task someone with creating a Facebook group for accepted students so you can start sharing information with one another. The cohort above us did this, and our cohort did this. Everyone but a few in our cohort follow our page probably daily as we're always sharing information in there. Once created, I would be happy to join that group as well to share some information put together by our cohort (and the cohort above) etc.
As far as supplies, the cohort above us sold us (for very cheap) lots of books, scrubs, NCLEX prep, etc. during orientation and the week afterward. We definitely plan to do the same! I would recommend renting books not buying. I would recommend getting a nice stethoscope since you'll be using it often! Most in our cohort have the $100ish Littmanns.
