Hi All,
I remember when I was applying to Seattle U's APNI (Advanced Practice Nursing Immersion) program a couple of years ago there was no information for me out there! So I wanted to circle back and answer any questions applicants or potential applicants might have. I finished the APNI portion last spring and now am in the first year of the primary care FNP/AGNP track.
Good luck to all.
Usually you have lecture two days a week and clinicals 2 days a week.
Summer (1st) quarter has a skills lab with a brief clinical, you are in there about 12 hours/week. + lecture from like 8 to 2 or something like that. fall/Winter quarter you will have class 2 days a week and clinicals 2 days a week. Clinical time can range from 8 hours to 12 as you stated. It depends on the subject. My population health clinical was 8ish hours awhile my pedes clinical was 12. Spring quarter is similar but you only have medsurg clinical. It is longer though. The lecture times vary quite a bit, sometimes you will have 2 lectures on Monday and only 1 on Friday, etc. All in all it's very manageable. They say that the work load is insane but I think most people can handle it.
To current APNI students: can anyone share what changes have been made to your program in response to COVID? I'm accepted to the 2020 cohort but concerned that everything will be "off schedule" now due to classes above us not being able to complete their clinicals. The whole country's healthcare system is overwhelmed so I know I'm not the only one impacted. I'm just not in school yet so I have no idea what it's impact will be on me. And I don't want to leave my job to discover that our cohort is postponed or cancelled.

Current or former students,
Just wondering about schedule during the first APNI year. How many days a week do you typically have class?
I know it was stated that clinicals can be approximately one 12 hour shift per week or two 8 hour shifts per week.
Just trying to get an idea of what a typical week would look like.
Thanks!
