Seattle U - APNI 2012

Published

Anyone already applying at Seattle U? Which track? I haven't finished my pre-req's, so I am probably not too competitive this year, but I am going to apply anyway. I am applying for the nurse-midwife track and my background is Microbiology (UW).

Yay! Me too! Congrats everyone!

Roll call everyone? Add your name below please.

Calinca - APNI midwifery

Hi everyone,

It's been a long time since I've checked this! I got off of it because it was making me nervous and I was getting super bummed out. Unfortunately, I didn't get into Columbia or Rochester (although I read that myelin did, so congratulations, that's amazing!) I sort of expected these results because I wasn't happy with my apps for those schools...

I was pretty much at the end of my rope here when I unexpectedly got an e-mail (on a Saturday afternoon too!) saying I was invited for an interview...I am beyond thrilled, although trying not to expect anything...so many people do have to take a few years to complete this process. But, I'm praying for the best and wish everyone else the best of luck as well.

Yay!

Pooja, believe in yourself! Just need to be true to yourself and true to what you wrote. You're going to do it!

Calinca,

Thank you! I've worked so hard and getting this was just an amazing tribute to everything that I had to overcome to even get here...I'm at least happy for this and I'm going to do my best! I want this SOOO much! I hope I make it...all of my potential future classmates sound like wonderful people. :)

Congrats Pooja! What do you mean it takes years for people to get through this process? Just curious (:

Congrats you guys! Just curious, did your application status change on the website?

I think Pooja meant most people need to go through the traditional route. I'm in agreement that our bachelor degrees and work experience enrich us as future nurse leaders!

RL2012 My status didn't change.

yeah, i'm curious to know if the website should look different. no email yet :| i got into upenn so probably will stick with that as it is. but seattle's my home! would love to go back:):) you all have worked so hard, amazingly great job and best on the interviews

Congratulations mz_marit, I hope you get an interview at SU as well so you can choose what's best for you, but upenn is amazing! Point is, we will all be nurse practitioners at some point in the future. Maybe we will bump into each other again! You can always move to Seattle after you are done!

Wow, UPenn! mz_marit, that's amazing! I'd love to see the East Coast, and what an awesome place to begin a nursing career...congratulations, that's quite an achievement!

Also, yes, many people end up having to take a traditional route into nursing, and I also know of several people that have applied to nursing schools for a few years without luck on the first few tries...:( so that's also what I meant about taking a while to even get in...i've been anxious that that will be me!

that is so true. i found a scholarship today for nurses who move to washington state; it's tied into loan repayment because of the nursing shortage. you're going to be a great midwife calinca, so awesome that the next step is happening!
