Seattle U - APNI 2012

Published

Anyone already applying at Seattle U? Which track? I haven't finished my pre-req's, so I am probably not too competitive this year, but I am going to apply anyway. I am applying for the nurse-midwife track and my background is Microbiology (UW).

Thanks Calinca, for being the point person on contact with the Department regarding interviews. It's good to know that I can put off my worry until next week.

Currently, I work in real estate development. I'm very excited to make the change and move forward with my true passion. How about you?

Does anybody know how many people they tend to take off the waitlist? I have heard it actually ends up being a good amount...I am also wondering from people that do get wait-listed, how much in advance are they notified that they got into the program?

I am asking because at my job, most people put in at least 3 months notice. They know I have applied to school as they were my recommenders, but I told them I would know beginning of March. It hit me that it may be the case that I get wait-listed and so I was wondering how short of notice people get...if anyone happens to know? My job is something that will take a really long time to train someone on, and I want to leave here on good terms so I guess the timing is making me nervous!

From what I have heard each year is different. Some years lots come off the waiting list and others only a few. I guess it makes sense that they could take students off the waiting list almost right up until start time depending on whether committed students change their minds at the last minute or not. A student could pay their registration and deposit with the intent to enroll in the program and back out last minute if they get a better offer from another institution... which creates a spot to be filled from the waiting list!

Some people got off the waitlist 3 days before class started...I think 1/3 of the cohort got off the waitlist last year.

There's usually around 300ish applicants...100ish interviews...and 50 acceptances. But competition differs from track to track. FNP is by far the most competitive..13 acceptances / 165 applicants (That is what admissions told me last year) then comes CNM, AGNP, PMHNP, CPHN. good luck to all! waiting is brutal...

Judging by how late SU is sending the invitations I am guessing and totally speculating wildly that this year the waitlist is going to be dug deep.

The lady behind that email is not answering anymore. I received an automated out-of-office email with exactly the same words I pasted here.

Just got the email that I have been chosen for an interview. Who else? So exciting!!!
