Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! I applied for Seattle's 2016 fall cohort but I am a transfer student and am not sure how good my chances are of getting in...Does anyone know how many transfer students are usually accepted every year? Or what the average GPA of transfer students is?

Also, what do I need to know about the interview?

I am a little bit nervous about getting in. We just found out a little bit ago that we are moving to Seattle so this was the only school that I could make the deadline for.

Anyways, any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Yes! I got my (transfer student) acceptance letter today!! I live in Shoreline, so pretty close to Seattle as far as mail delivery is concerned. Good luck everyone!

P.s. I heard for SPU there are two wait lists- one for transfer students and one for SPU students. Just something to think about.

I live in Lynnwood and haven't gotten anything. Maybe my mail is taking longer? Or maybe they send rejections out after acceptances? Congratulations though! Hoping to hear something back soon, it's driving me crazy!

Yeah I live in Redmond and didn't get my letter today so I'm starting to think that acceptance letters get sent out first.

Sarahnadine, did you apply anywhere else? I'm also waiting to hear back from SU, UW and BC

I called them a couple of days ago and they said that they usually send both out at the same time. I guess I am just starting to doubt that since I haven't gotten anything yet. Yes, I applied to UW and SU as well. No word on those either. Are you a transfer student?

Hmm, well maybe it has something to do with the way mail is distributed. I'm trying to stay positive since yes, I'm a transfer student, but I have excellent healthcare experience , 3.80 GPA, and I thought my interview went really well.

I guess we will find out on Monday (fingers crossed).

A friend told me SU will be sending out their letters on Monday!

I am hoping that's the case. I am a transfer student, I have a 3.95 GPA, a lot of healthcare experience and I also thought my interview went really well. Not saying that I should get in, because I honestly don't know what exactly they are looking for. But, from the sounds of it we should both have a good chance . . . hopefully! I am SO nervous about this whole thing! Keep me posted if you get a letter! Best of luck to you!!

I will :) we have to get in somewhere ...I hope! Let me know if you get your letter! Good look to you too!!!

I'm a post-bac student (considered a transfer right?) and I live IN Seattle. It definitely seems like the letters were staggered :( I also know that spots for transfer students are very limited. I think last year they only accepted about five.

I have also checked the online portal. According to the email instructions, it says that if you're able to see your application check list, that means no decisions have been made yet. I went to check and I still see mine, which implies that they haven't decided yet (?!) so I don't know if it's a glitch in the system or just didn't update. Anyone else check the portal out?

Hopefully SU has better news! Good luck to all.

Hi everyone,

I got my letter this morning, I got waitlisted #3. I am a transfer student as well, and was wondering what everyones healthcare experience was or volunteer experience was like? I've read other blogs and it doesn't look good for the waitlisted transfers but I'll remain hopeful.

Monicahoyer00: That's good to know you got yours today! I'm at work until 6 , so it'll be a while before I can check my mail :( #3 is not bad at all!

Im a transfer student, volunteered in a surgical unit while I finished my CNA certificate last year and got hired right after getting my license in the same unit (a post-surgical unit at my hospital) Now I have over 500 hrs of that experience, volunteer for an organization that works to give food to homeless shelters.

What is your experience?

Just got my letter. Transfer student with a waitlist of #2!

In terms of experience: my background is in public health so I had 2 years of full-time working in a health department through the CDC. My pre-reqs going in was a 3.8 (I was missing A&P).

If any transfer students end up turning down their spot at SPU, please let us know :)

Also, just for planning purposes: when is the deadline for accepting a program offer? Is it beginning of May?

I've been offered a spot at PLU and that program starts in June so I'd like to know if I'm able to get off the waitlist :(

@watermelly that's so great that you got into PLU, I've heard great things about that school!!! Was it your first choice?

My healthcare experience is as a Surgical Tech in the OR for about 4 years and about 200 hours as a CNA through school. I didn't have much volunteer experience but I had some when I could fit it in for sure!
