Seattle University Transfer BSN 2016
Hi everyone! Excited to meet you in the fall :) just out of curiosity, for those who are post-Bac students, did anybody get any scholarships or fin aid to cover tuition? My award letter is less than stellar and I'm freaking out a bit

Seattle Pacific University BSN 2016
Hey! I also got my letter to SU so I'm going to be starting school there. I am number 2 on the transfer waitlist. I'm going to take my name off SPU so the waitlist shrinks.

Hi!!!! I also got into SU! Whooo hoo :) It's my top choice so I'll definitely be sending in my deposit there.

I spoke to Linda on the phone just now. It seems like they're a lot quicker about responding to waitlisted people if spots open up AS they open up. They'll communicate via phone, email, and letter to reach the candidates and let them know if a spot is available. May 1 is the deadline to accept so I expect people who are on the waitlist to be notified around then. It all "varies" how many spots are available in the program. She said in years past it ranges anywhere between 1 and 20. SU's letters are being sent this week. I hope people don't wait until May 1 to decline their spots if they choose a different program :/

No... my first choice is SU (I really want to stay in Seattle!) and SPU as my second. SU's letters are being mailed this week though so hopefully we get good news soon. Question for you: you said you were reading blogs about the waitlist; is it really difficult for waitlisted transfer students to get into SPU?

Seattle University Transfer BSN 2016
Hi everyone! There hasn't been a thread, so I thought I'd create one and provide some information (just got off the phone with SU). SU has 80 spots available for transfer students and this year, they had over 600 applicants for those spots. Letters will be mailed today or tomorrow so we should get a response by the end of this week or early next week. If you are waitlisted, you are not assigned a number. The committee reviews the class itself to see who has accepted. Based on how the cohort looks, THEN they'll review the waitlist and see which applicants match up most closely with the students who accepted. I hope this information helps. Good luck to everyone :)

Also, just for planning purposes: when is the deadline for accepting a program offer? Is it beginning of May? I've been offered a spot at PLU and that program starts in June so I'd like to know if I'm able to get off the waitlist

Just got my letter. Transfer student with a waitlist of #2! In terms of experience: my background is in public health so I had 2 years of full-time working in a health department through the CDC. My pre-reqs going in was a 3.8 (I was missing A&P). If any transfer students end up turning down their spot at SPU, please let us know :)

I'm a post-bac student (considered a transfer right?) and I live IN Seattle. It definitely seems like the letters were staggered I also know that spots for transfer students are very limited. I think last year they only accepted about five. I have also checked the online portal. According to the email instructions, it says that if you're able to see your application check list, that means no decisions have been made yet. I went to check and I still see mine, which implies that they haven't decided yet (?!) so I don't know if it's a glitch in the system or just didn't update. Anyone else check the portal out? Hopefully SU has better news! Good luck to all.

Are you guys waiting for other schools or is SPU your first choice?
-
Seattle Pacific University BSN 2016
Wow, thanks for the information! That is sooner than I thought. Do you know if they're sending it via mail or email?

Hi all! Also interviewed with SPU and feeling really anxious! Do you guys know when we'll hear back? Is it before the end of this quarter (hopefully?)

PLU ELMSN 2016
It's nice to hear other people's perspectives about MSN vs BSN! Thanks for the information. I've read from countless threads that some people look down upon EL MSN programs because they feel some people are "entitled" or shouldn't choose a specialty if they don't have basic nursing experience (which is why I opted not to apply for SU MSN - not sure if I actually want to specialize; I just want to work as a RN truly). I've also read that some recruiters don't think MSN grads are truly prepared and look down upon them. It's all such a confusing mess for sure! I'm just scared of committing to a MSM program if recruiters and employers don't value the degree. I wish we can talk to some PLU grads or students!! @curiousrei have you only applied to PLU? Are you from Tacoma? Are you thinking about specializing?

PLU ELMSN 2016
Hi everyone. I've been a lurker for some time, but thought I'd pop in and finally say hi :) I also got a call from the admissions saying I got in (yay!!!) Of course, as a current Seattle resident, I am concerned about how I'm going to commute back and forth And question for you all: are any of you waiting for any BSN programs? I've applied to both SU and SPU BSN programs and obviously won't hear back from them until March/April. I've been reading all this information about MSN vs BSN and still can't seem to decide what is better! Are you any of you guys dealing with this as well?
