  1. Hello! I believe the final deadline for applications is January 15th and imagine they will be reviewed in the weeks following. I'm expecting decisions to come as early as February, and hope no later than April. This is, of course, purely speculation based on information shared from previously admitted applicants. Here's to hoping we all get some good news in the coming months. Good luck to you!
  2. My GPA is ~3.5 - 3.6, but don't let your academics discourage you from applying. I have learned through research and the learning seminars admission is a very holistic process. Our GPA, GRE scores, personal statements, and letters of recommendation are all important factors in evaluating applicants. If you fall within the average GRE scores, wrote a good letter, and have good recommendations I think you have every reason to stay optimistic and confident in yourself! If necessary, apply to several programs to increase your chances. GPA may be a small part of the process, but in my humble opinion, they shouldn't define anyone. Good luck going forward with whatever it is you decide!
  3. Greetings! I recently came across a very helpful thread on allnurses regarding last year's applications to the ELMSN program and thought I would try to get some dialogue going for those applying for the program starting in June 2016. I took the GRE earlier this week and am wrapping up my applications (PLU, Seattle U, etc) now. I would be happy to answer any questions about my experiences throughout the application process, but mostly I thought this would be a great space to encourage and motivate one another! I'm a non-traditional student and former finance professional making one of the most exciting transitions into healthcare. I'm also a current PLU student so I'm familiar with the campus, which is beautiful by the way (if some of you aren't and were curious). If you have questions, ask away. If you have answers, we'd love to hear them. Or, if you just want to pop in and introduce yourself, we'd love that too! Good luck everyone!
  4. Hello Haunani! I'm not an employee of Multicare Good Samaritan, but I've been a volunteer trainer there for a little more than four years. I bounce around a lot as a trainer (I wanted to experience and gain an understanding of as many different areas of healthcare as I could), and I either train new volunteers and/or spend a lot of time between the ICU, cardiac care, pediatrics, mother/baby or L&D. First and foremost, the healthcare staff is amazing and incredibly passionate about their respective crafts. As a volunteer I try to stay as involved as I can, help when and where I can, and in the past I have felt as though I may be bothersome, asking too many questions, or trying to help too much. Not once has anyone every told me stop, rather they appreciate the eagerness, inquisitiveness, and effort. In short, they're amazing. With respect to the hospital itself, it is absolutely beautiful. It can be a maze to navigate at times, but you get used to it. Aside from it being aesthetically pleasing, there are also aspects of the architecture that are environmentally conscious, which if I recall correctly, were designed around sustainability, carbon footprint reduction, and efforts to be more 'green'. I live on South Hill (Puyallup), about 5 minutes away from Good Samaritan, and the community is wonderful. It's not too big, nor is it too small, and everything you could possibly need is within a 5 to 10 minute drive, if not less. I hope this information helps. Like I said, I'm a volunteer, not an employee, but I can't imagine the answers would be much different. Good luck in your future endeavors!
