Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! I applied for Seattle's 2016 fall cohort but I am a transfer student and am not sure how good my chances are of getting in...Does anyone know how many transfer students are usually accepted every year? Or what the average GPA of transfer students is?

Also, what do I need to know about the interview?

I am a little bit nervous about getting in. We just found out a little bit ago that we are moving to Seattle so this was the only school that I could make the deadline for.

Anyways, any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Rubyduby93! I applied last year as a transfer with a 3.7 cum GPA overall, 3.9 in pre-reqs, and was #5 on the waitlist. They only took 2 people off the waitlist so I have also applied again this year. I'm not sure what the average is, but I know they say the vast majority of the positions in the nursing program go to SPU students and very few to transfers. The interview was straight forward last year, I remember questions like "What made you choose nursing?" and questions about describing challenges with co-workers, how you work in group projects etc. Hope that helps a little, and good luck with your application! :)

Hey Ruby! I am a current SPU student who applied to Fall 2016 as well. I hope you got the interview email inviting you to the school! What I have learned from the program is that there is 65 spots and 55 are reserved for current students and 10 are for transfer students. Best of luck!

That does help! What was the written portion of the interview like? Will that be straightforward as well? And the quantitative portion? I just have no idea how to even prepare for that:)

I have no idea what the process is because I haven't done it before. First time! Just dress business professional.

Hello! So I am going to the interview this Saturday the 20th. How many people are interviewed? I had no idea that was how many spots SPU had for nursing. Best of luck!

Hello, my interview is on Saturday the 20th too. My interview is at 2 pm. I heard that they only have 5 spots for transfer students but I am not sure.

Anybody knows how many questions they will ask in the interview? Thanks!!!!

So how did everyone do~!?

Ha I don't know!!!! I think it went alright but they asked me one question that I just blanked on for like 20 seconds ha. It was a question about what mistake I've made and what I've learned from it and I could not think of anything to say for the longest time. How did it go for you?

Oh I got the same question!

I answered: "That is a very good question and I haven't thought about that, give me a second.. (waited like 5 seconds) then answered" Haha. That is how I was told to approach a question I didn't know the answer to.

I felt I did well! I felt pretty good after it, I got a lot of compliments but just waiting now... I hate waiting.

Hi all! Also interviewed with SPU and feeling really anxious! Do you guys know when we'll hear back? Is it before the end of this quarter (hopefully?)
