SDSU BSN Fall 2019

Published

Hi all! I applied to transfer to SDSU's BSN program to start in 2019. I thought I could start a thread where we all could share our stats and experiences. Here are my stats:

Prereq GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 89.3%

This puts me at 68 points as I have no work experience. Good luck to everyone!!!

Hello! If anyone is still looking for a roommate, please let me know!

Anyone know anything about which orientation date we’re supposed to choose? I think we pick our spots soon and I don’t know if there’s a nursing specific one

There's two orientations that we have to attend, a New Student Orientation and a SON orientation.

Dates for the New Student orientation are revealed on May 9th at 10am, and it does not matter which date we choose. There's no nursing specific New Student Orientation since generic information about SDSU will be given. This is also when we find out if we are Track 1 or Track 2 and when we register for our fall classes.

The SON orientation is set up by the SON one week before we start , and we have to attend on whatever date the SON picks for us. This is the nursing specific orientation since we will get to meet people that are in our cohort/track, get details on the SON, get fitted for our scrubs, etc.

Hello! I was in the waiting list for the Nursing I just received an email from the SON that I got admitted! However, I'm kind of confused by this:

"You have been admitted to the SDSU fall 2019 semester to the pre-major indicated above"

the pre-major was written " Nursing Premajor"

Does anyone know what this mean? Is it like CSULB that I have to compete again to get into the major?

Hi Remia! I asked Peter and here is what he said about Pre-major:

"The pre-Nursing major status is a hold-over from before we adopted the direct-entry format. All students now admitted to the program are coded as a Nursing major in the summer, once Admissions completes the transcript evaluation process and any remaining admission steps."

so don't worry about it! it will be automatically changed to nursing major as the admission process is done! btw i was on the waitlist and today i received an email as well!!

hope to see you in the orientation!

Hi guys, I just got accepted from the waitlist! If anyone is looking for a roommate please let me know!

Hey guys, I just got an email that I was accepted from the waitlist. I was just wondering, if the portals say that we're admitted does that mean we're accepted only to the university, not the nursing program? Will there we a separate email from SON? Also, is there a way to waive the $400 intent-to-enroll? Thank you!

Congrats to all you for getting admitted!

If it says "admitted" on your portal, then you're offered admission to both SDSU and its nursing program. I got an email from the Office of Admissions a day after I saw the "admitted" status on my portal. I didn't receive anything from the SON until very recently, but since you got admitted from the waitlist, then I would assume the SON would reach out to you soon since the fall semester starts in a few months and since the incoming cohort needs to be contacted regarding orientations and other events. I don't think there is a way to waive the $400 intent-to-enroll, unfortunately. I could be wrong though.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! This definitely helps ?

Hi, has anybody signed up for the New Transfer Student orientation yet? I'm not sure under which school I should sign up for (College of Arts and Letters, etc) because there is no School of Nursing section. If anyone knows anything, please let me know. Thanks so much!
