SDSU BSN Fall 2019

Published

Hi all! I applied to transfer to SDSU's BSN program to start in 2019. I thought I could start a thread where we all could share our stats and experiences. Here are my stats:

Prereq GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 89.3%

This puts me at 68 points as I have no work experience. Good luck to everyone!!!

Also- did those of you who were accepted, send official TEAS scores or just a copy of it?

I didn't send official TEAS transcripts directly from ATI. I just sent the downloaded report from the website.

I did not receive an email about it, nor is it on my portal as a required item. However, my friend who also got accepted was asked for one though. I called admissions and asked about it two times and they said not to worry about it, but I thought I'd ask you guys as well.

Yeah, I haven't heard of it, maybe if your friend had a different major they require it?

His major is nursing as well.

Did you send that to Peter? Or the School of Nursing

I sent it to both of them just to be safe. Peter emailed me back saying that sending it to him is sufficient (even though it says to send it to the SON email on the SON website). The previous SON undergraduate advisor that I spoke to during Explore SDSU also said that it doesn't really matter whether you send it to the nursing undergraduate advisor's email or the SON's email.

So as long as you get some kind of response that your TEAS report was received (either from the undergraduate advisor's email or the SON email), then you should be good to go. I think the same goes for the work experience verification!

Okay yeah, I sent my work verification letter and a copy of my TEAS report to Peter and he verified that he received and filed it, so I should be fine! I always overthink things ?

If admissions said not to worry about it, then I would not worry since they work closely with the SON and are impressively knowledgeable about the SON's admission procedures.

To ease all worries though, I don't think it would hurt to contact our soon-to-be undergraduate advisor through email to clarify the issue.

Has anyone on this forum got accepted from the waitlist or does anyone in this forum know anyone that got accepted from the waitlist? Please let me know ?Thanks in advance!!

I actually declined my admission a couple days ago, and i'm sure a couple other people might too. There actually is a "button" to decline the acceptance, but its more of like a 2 minute long process on their portal. Good luck to everyone and I hope someone who really wants to go to SDSU gets my spot! ?

For those of you that went to the Nursing Revealed event, how was it? Anything we should know?

I went to the Nursing Revealed event and it wasn’t super helpful for transfer students that have already been accepted or are on the waitlist. It was definitely targeted more for high school students who were thinking about applying to SDSU for nursing as a direct admit. You didn’t miss out on anything! ?

I also went to the event! Information was given about how to get admitted into the program, what student life is like at SDSU, and how to complete the study abroad requirement. We also got to visit one of the classrooms (where we practiced taking vitals + listening to heart/lung sounds), the assessment lab (where we learned how to stop bleeding + observe some fundamental skills), and the skills lab (where we practiced CPR). There was also an optional tour of the Sharp HealthCare simulation lab after the event.

Overall, I thought the event was insightful and gave a good idea of what we will be doing when we start in the fall. However, I agree with wldiacri that some of the information presented was more tailored toward high schoolers that were interested in the program (in fact, almost all the attendees were still high schoolers).
