SDSU BSN Fall 2019

Published

Hi all! I applied to transfer to SDSU's BSN program to start in 2019. I thought I could start a thread where we all could share our stats and experiences. Here are my stats:

Prereq GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 89.3%

This puts me at 68 points as I have no work experience. Good luck to everyone!!!

Have anyone sent AP scores? When I was paying deposit, it said I should, but I don't see it on the required documents section.... I asked the admission office thru email, but they didn't respond me back.

You should send them ASAP. It’s a part of your transfer credits even if it doesn’t technically show up on your transcript

hey guys! this is random, but I was just wondering if anyone knew when we were going to be ordering/picking scrubs. A friend of mine is attending another school and they just picked out their scrubs and I just wanted to see if anyone had more info on when we most likely would. I would assume orientation, just wanted to see if anyone had input

Wow! I'm so excited for your friend! It's always nice to hear future nurses staying connected with each other!

Yes, we get fitted for our scrubs during orientation, so I assume that we order our scrubs that day as well.

Have any of you logged in to SDSU's web portal recently? Because I recently logged in, clicked on the “My Personal MAP” tab of the undergrad section, and saw all the classes that I need to take. I think that it's an indicator of which track we'll be in once we start the program.

There's two orientations that we have to attend, a New Student Orientation and a SON orientation.

Dates for the New Student orientation are revealed on May 9th at 10am, and it does not matter which date we choose. There's no nursing specific New Student Orientation since generic information about SDSU will be given. This is also when we find out if we are Track 1 or Track 2 and when we register for our fall classes.

The SON orientation is set up by the SON one week before we start , and we have to attend on whatever date the SON picks for us. This is the nursing specific orientation since we will get to meet people that are in our cohort/track, get details on the SON, get fitted for our scrubs, etc.

Hey there. I just saw this and was not aware that there is a separate SON orientation. Does anyone have more information about the SON orientation, or when we will find out our date?

A representative from the SON told me that the SON orientation takes place a couple of days or so before the fall semester starts and is run by the Student Nurses Association (SNA). The SNA will reach out to us over the summer with details once everything is finalized. I don't anticipate them doing so until July (since June 30 is the deadline to send in final official transcripts) or until all new student orientations are over.

Hello! I'm just wondering, what types of transportation do you guys have in mind? Since we are going to the hospitals for the clinical, is everyone bringing a car? or is there any other transportation choice?

I plan to drive to clinicals when the time for off-site clinicals comes.

If you're in track 1, all of your clinicals will be on campus for the first year. You won't begin off-site clinicals in hospitals until the first semester of your second year. This means that you won't necessarily need a car for your first year.

If you're in track 2, then your first off-site clinical will start in the second semester of your first year. It's probably best to have reliable transportation if you're in this track.

I think it's ok if you're unable to bring a car though because most of the places that SDSU does clinicals at is a walking distance from bus/trolley stations. It's also possible to carpool with people in your class who live in the same area or even use Uber/Lyft. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information! I was so worried about the transportation since I live far away from the SanDiego, but I'm so relieved now ?

Hello everyone

Congratulations to those who got accepted, and sorry to those who didn't. I wish you guys best of luck!!

I'm an applicant for Fall '20 admission Spokane campus. I'm a transfer student. I'm also an international student so I think it can be a disadvantage. I went to Green River College in Auburn WA and there are NOT many pre-nursing students... you guys see some in your nursing program at SDSU?

Do you know what the average score for those who got admitted, or like the lowest to get accepted? I still have TEAS to take, but if I score around 90, my total would be ~50, which is pretty low compared to y'all. I also have no work experience.

I really appreciate for any advice you have T__T

HI everyone,

I have a question. I am applying to the program this fall and I was wondering how you all calculated your GPA's in order to figure out your stats. I have a general idea of what mine looks like according to my transcript. However, its not based off my trancript GPA since not all my courses are transferable, right?
