Hi everyone ?
I noticed that the only forums about SCVMC's (Santa Clara Valley Medical Center) new grad/clinical nurse I positions were from 2022, so I was hoping to start a new one for this year as interviews roll around and new positions become available.
Mr.Tee said:I also got an offer for "extra help" for the TICU. I applied to the unclassified position and I am new grad as well with 6 years of experience as an LVN. Did they offer anyone here with a coded position right away or are all new grads hired as extra help?
I also got an extra help position. Are you going to accept the offer?
Mr.Tee said:I'm definitely considering it since it was my dream to work in the TICU, but Stanford also reached out with an offer in ONC.
I am also in the same boat. But do you think it's possible to do both? I just don't wanna missed the opportunity. I got MICU offer but I also got a cardiac transplant offer. What are your thoughts on this?

I think the part that worries me most is the job stability and uncertainty of being coded, but its very hard to pass up the opportunity. There's also the option of picking up per diem shifts during that time but it might be difficult trying to learn a new system while getting used to critical care itself. At this point I'm just trying to create a pros and cons list but its not helping much haha.

I feel you?

I got hired as extra help but I have RN experience. I'm actually an RN II elsewhere (with a little over a year of experience) but when I applied to VMC, they told me I didn't qualify for Clinical Nurse II there so I had to apply for the Unclassified - Clinical Nurse I training program . I believe they offered coded positions a few weeks ago for the Clinical Nurse II - Critical Care Training Program? They should have the same start date as us.

If you don't mind me asking, what made you choose VMC's training program instead of trying to transfer within your current hospital (assuming you don't work there).
