Scrubs, Scrubs. Scrubs :)

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hi all, well I start CNA classes at the end of this month!! YEA! and I wanted to ask a question. Might sound silly but , Do you wear clothing under your scrubs? I see individuals wearing shirts but what do you wear under your pants.. Just wondering. I know stupid question but thought I'd ask.

oh... and i can tell you that giving showers in white scrubs isn't too fun! make sure your scrub pants are tooo long or roll them up a bit... trust me from experience, scrub pants suck up the water!

Are you supposed to bring a 2nd pair to work to change? I've never understood how that works, if you just grab some community scrubs from a closet (if there is such a thing wherever you work) or if you're supposed to just have a clean change in your bag/locker.

The boyshorts are a good idea... somewhat along the same lines of the boxer shorts. I actually do have a pair of boy shorts or boy cut girl shorts (not much of a difference, that I can tell, except for the obvious!) and they're really comfy. Way back when I was in Catholic girls' high school, we wore boxers under our skirts. This was the 80s, though, and that was pretty popular back then. :coollook: But I remember that they're just very comfortable and airy so I might go hit up the guys underwear section and see what they've got.

I wear a long sleeve shirt and a pair of shorts underneath my clothes. I'm always cold plus I don't want to accidently expose myself. Some of my co-works usally have their butt cracks, thongs, and boxers exposed and it doesn't look professional at all.

Yea , our class tried our scrubs on today for sizing and I never noticed they are like pajamas. The pants are drawstring. LOL I'm sounding so "green" right now. :)

The store I go to has scrubs located in the lingerie department!

I wear white bottoms and colored tops for work. I usually wear those thigh length tights (forgot what their callled) in black, under my pants its pretty cool and absorbs sweat ( it also creates and little barrier during that time of the month) and under that I wear whatever underwear i want. The black is invisible under the white pants, and it hides the panty lines really well:yeah:I think its called under armor or something like that...I took the tags off so I can't remember.

oh my goodness! i am so glad the scrubs i'll be wearing will be burgundy (required uniform)!! :omy: and so glad this subject was brought up!

LOL what?? hmm well they're not considered lingerie.. LOL thats to funny. :)

Oh yea the under armour gear is good for absorbing sweat. I forget the technology Under Armour uses, but some companies make clothing with the same moisture wick technology or whatever its called. Under Armour can be a little costly but great point. I forget all about that stuff too. Another option. I'm getting a lot of ideas from everyone. !

Thanks!

boy shorts are VERY comfy. ANd not that thick and somewhat conceals the bootay. I will add this to my list of things to try. Thanks!

yeah... same thing... boyshorts, boycut.. but i swear by them! as far as bringing a second pair of scrubs... maybe having a back up is a good idea. but, i never did. just had one of those "oops im drenched" moments the first time i gave a shower, but i've learned how to be careful since then. i think what you wear under the scrubs is just a person thing, how much you sweat, how hot you get.. buy something cheaper for the first clinical and if you need to figure something else out then go exploring. good luck with your clinicals! they are a little overwhelming, but I really did learn so much.

I had to wear the dreaded white scrubs to my clincals... heres my suggestion... I got the boycut undies from target in white, white bra, white tank top. you dont feel like everyone can see everything under the scrubs. i thought about the leggings or wearing a top.. but when you are running around all day you do get pretty toasty even with just scrubs. so, i do swear by the boyshorts!

You didn't find a problem with everyone seeing your underthings? All the ones I try do.... White under white you see all the nice detail on the underthings LOL Which I guess is OK if you're a size 2 and wearing cute underthings- but... :wink2:

I wish I was a size two! haha... I had decent scrubs, dickies, they are relatively thick.. so.. no one really saw anything. they werent too tight and the top did cover up some of the butt, so that might be why too. I just knew I had to suck it up and feel as comfortable as possible.. praying that I could get everything covered and that I could survive that time of the month in the white. Trust me, when you start your clinicals you'll probably be so busy you won't even notice you are wearing white anymore!

I'm an RN, but I thought I'd chime in here. In summer I wear one of those little camisoles - the spandexy ones - under my scrub top. Most of the scrubs are v-necks - and when you bend over a patient - well, I'm not into giving out free shows. :D

In winter I usually wear a tee shirt under my scrubs - but they keep the air on the unit at sub-zero levels (even the post-menopausal ones among us get cold, so that should tell you something!) all year round and it seems worse in the winter (we're on the ninth floor).

But I would recommend wearing SOMETHING underneath - even if it's only a sports bra instead of a regular one, because you can ses straight down those tops whenever you bend over.
