Hey! Just wanted to start a thread for those that have submitted an app for the Scripps New Grad RN. Looking back at past threads, I'm not entirely sure how they choose people for interviews. It seems to be random with both external and internal applications.

Thanks!
Hi! I am external, I had an interview with Scripps Green this last Tuesday!! I had my externship in the ED at Scripps Enci my last semester of nursing school, 2 references from nurses at Scripps Enci, and a letter of reference from my preceptor in the ED who also happens to be a CSUSM professor, but none of this clearly mattered as I did not get an interview the first time I applied and this was all on my resume & I did have a cover letter.
The second time I applied, I had ACLS on my resume, included my college transcript, I have also since applying the first time to Scripps been doing Aesthetic nursing for a month doing tattoo removal. I don’t know if having actual RN experience contributed to me getting an interview.
Also.... fun fact that could have everything to do with getting an interview the 2nd time around: I noticed that the first time I applied, I only had my resume checked under “relevant files” on the last page of the application process when you submit all your documents. My cover letter, 2 letters of reference (1 from a nurse at Scripps, 1 not), my CNA card, BLS card, all were not checked under relevant files. This time, I did check them. But I have no idea if checking relevant files makes it seen or unseen to the hiring department. And again, I added my college transcript this time!
I hope this helps! I will update if I am offered the position :) I have no idea how it went as the interviewers were pretty difficult to get a read on :D

Off topic but, how do you like being in the Aesthetic field? I was thinking of doing this while I wait for a position in the hospital too.

I think having some type of RN experience helped because I’m external as well. I did my preceptorship at a scripps clinic, had ACLS, PALS, NRP, basically every cert you could think of, 4.0 GPA, 3 letters of rec, joined multiple nursing associations, and my first TWO times applying I didn’t get looked at. This time the only thing I added was my 1 month RN experience and I got an interview!
This is my third time applying as well and the first time I've gotten an interview. The only thing that I did differently from the last couple of times was I put on my resume that I was in the process of obtaining my california license. I do not have any experience as a nurse but did work as a CNA three days ago. I am volunteering in a hospital but I am not doing nursing work.

It’s a totally different vibe. Not fast paced, no pressure. I graduated last May, had my baby in June, so doing per diem aesthetic nursing (I knew the owner) just worked for me at this point in my life. I’m doing tattoo removal and will be trained in botox soon. It’s definitely cool & an awesome way to use your license but definitely a lil repetitive and slow compared to being in the hospital.

That definitely has to be it then. I have multiple honors societies on mine also, and nursing associations. I don’t have PALS or NRP.
