Scripps New Grad RN June/August 2020

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hey! Just wanted to start a thread for those that have submitted an app for the Scripps New Grad RN. Looking back at past threads, I'm not entirely sure how they choose people for interviews. It seems to be random with both external and internal applications.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to post on here because I have read so many of these posts when I was hoping to get hired at Scripps and hardly anyone talks about there interview experience!

These are the questions I was asked:

- Tell us about yourself

- Asked about each health care experience and what I learned from it

- 5 year goal

- How you prioritized a patient

- What you do outside of work to handle the stress of nursing

- If someone interrupts you while you are in the middle of something what do you do

- Is there anything else you would want us to know about you

Overall, the interview was really short and concise. I interviewed at La Jolla and got my acceptance email on this Thursday. The interview will probably feel like it sucked and you didn't get it because they are only 25-30 minutes but you never know, also I spent a really long time on my portfolio so make sure that's solid I think it helped me. Hope this helped at least a couple people that were in my shoes. Good luck everybody!

Hello!

I received an offer on Mar 5th for Tele3W @ Scripps Green August 2020 cohort :-)

I just wanted to stop by and let all you new grads know not to give up or lose hope! I currently have been working on a ms/tele floor for about 3 months now and have been interviewing elsewhere in between. I never wanted to be a ms/tele nurse; however, I quite enjoy the busy pace of it all now.

I’m sure you’re tired of hearing this over and over again but DO keep your options open! If it’s not your dream job, that’s OK! Use other opportunities as a learning process/stepping stone towards your dream job! It’ll be worth it and you’ll get there eventually.

I honestly thought I’d never get the position at Scripps, this is my second time interviewing. I came to the interview straight off a 12 hour night shift and surprisingly made it through! So keep going! You’ll get there sooner than you think! If God (or whatever higher power you believe in) brings you to it, he’ll bring you through it ?

You guys got this!

Goodluck and CONGRATS to everyone! ?

Has anyone made a fb group for the August cohort?

@Futurenurse2020absn Hi! I don’t believe so. I’ve been searching for one as well.

Hi there!

Would anyone mind sharing what they know about the New Grad hiring process? Do they pool candidates based on their unit/hospital choices or on their resumes first? Do some units have more positions open than others? The options for this round are Medical, surgical, tele/DOU, and Encology. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
