Screening incentives for MS and HS

Specialties School

Published

I will be conducting vision and hearing tests on my MS and HS students. They are too big now for stickers. Any ideas on what I can give them ? Theres only 30 students so I don't mind spending my own money.

You could reach out to a local dentist or any health-advocacy type of group to see if they have any freebies?

(I say dentist because someone just sent my one school a bunch of chapsticks)

Specializes in Telemetry, Gastroenterology, School Nrs.

Give them a smile and a "thanks for letting me interrupt your day" and then send them back to class. Why do they need something? I'm not trying to sound mean, I'm just wondering. Getting something for sitting through a required school screening is like giving participation trophies. I'm just not a fan :)

I work with special ed kids and having them to sit still for screenings is a miracle.

Depending on your budget you could do fidget/sensory toys. There are some bulk packs on Amazon for a little less than $1 each. There's also a lot of options if you look up "goody bag fillers" on Amazon.

Well that changes my mind a little :)

haha I'm trying ways to be creative with them

what about bulk tattoos? the older kids seem to like those more if they are "cool". Don't know if they will comprehend the concept, but you can also try having them earn raffle tickets towards a drawing for something favorable such as a free snack coupon from the cafeteria or a comic book bundle or backpack filled with supplies. You know your students best and what may motivate them.

I like the idea of health/hygiene items...chapstick, hand sanitizer, little pocket mirrors, pocket combs and brushes, nail files, sunglasses.
