Schoolcraft Nursing Program

Published

Does anyone know anything about the schoolcraft college nursing program by chance? I was told that there is a 2 yr waiting list but how do they go by picking who gets in or not? Is it based primarily on GPA and completion of pre-reqs?

Hi-

Students are already receiving letters that say 2013. Keep in mind some of those people will move up to 2012 so don't be too discouraged if you get a letter that says 2014.

Good luck!

PS) I got moved up a year and am now finishing the first year of the program ; )

That gives some of us some hope! I was definitely on the verge of moving out of state to do nursing school (still am considering it) hopefully something works out where I don't have to because I am scared of leaving my job to go somewhere else for school but I am willing to if it means being done before 2015!!

The only thing I would say about moving out of state, you have to really consider the costs, what job will you have to support yourself, then if you can't work full time during school what will you do and you also have to consider the cost of OUT OF STATE tuition. When I explored these options I decided I could got to the most expensive private four year college and still pay less and keep my job. Good thing I'm in for 2010/2011 for sure. Neither option excited me, my current job gives me plenty of study time and good pay.

once I get in.. what type of drug test does schoolcraft use! because I had to take a durg test for a job and I had stage fright, and couldn't urinate, I wasn't using drugs but I freaked out at the fact some man was behind the door listening to me!! that stuff just freaks me out!!

Hi,

I think I was one of the last people to take the NET at schoolcraft and now they are requiring the teas test. I am on the alternate list for 2010 but number #70 and if I don't get bumped up I am starting in Fall of 2011. I actually finished all my prereqs in July of 2009 and submitted my application in July as well.

I talked to a staff member in the nursing department that said they are receiving alot of positive responses back for those that want to start in 2010 so they don't anticipate moving alot of people up. So it looks like 2011 for me as well. A good idea while you are waiting would be to take a stats class and finish general chemistry as well as biochem because those are classes needed for a BSN.

Good luck everyone.

that's something im wondering about nursing programs. do you need to complete ALL of the pre-reqs THEN apply for the program/College of Nursing? or not?

Do people finish a lot of pre-reqs apply and end up having to wait and not have any classes?

Hi there,

If you look online, you can pull up the nursing application and see which pre-reqs have to be completed in order to apply to the program. Then there are a few additional classes you can take while you wait. But not many, maybe an english, math, and abnormal psych, if you're talking about Schoolcraft.

And yes, it may very well happen that you take all of your classes and are then left to wait with nothing to take.

Good luck to you!
