Hello all, I am starting a nursing program (BSN) in the fall with the intent to eventually become a CRNA. Being a CRNA is something I've always wanted to do since I decided I wanted to become a nurse. Now that I am at this step, I would really appreciate some advice from either current CRNAs or prospective CRNAs in school right now. A little info about myself: I am entering nursing school with an overall gpa of 3.54 and I hope to keep it there. I know some CRNA schools will accept you without a GRE if your GPA is 3.5 or higher. What can I do to get involved in critical care work early on during school and (hopefully) immediately after graduation? As I'm sure all of you know, schools require a minimum of 1 year critical care experience, but I understand almost all schools really want 2 years. What can I do from right now until graduation that can make me a desirable candidate to work in some sort of ICU straight out of graduation? am i the only person that thinks it's a little ridiculous to have to wait up to four years to finish your associate's degree? I don't know if it's Schoolcraft being understaffed, a rise in people going to school to be nurses, or a combination of both, but something needs to be done to get rid of this insane wait list.

that's something im wondering about nursing programs. do you need to complete ALL of the pre-reqs THEN apply for the program/College of Nursing? or not? Do people finish a lot of pre-reqs apply and end up having to wait and not have any classes?

the wait to get into the program is 3 years now.

Wayne State seems extremely competitive and thru one year i have like a 3.287 GPA i believe. looking to get better this year. Im also interested in Eastern Michigan but im open to anything that comes along at this point by the sound of how competitive it is getting into any given nursing program. Kyle.

oh wow thanks so much for the info! i've completed one year in college @ Scraft working on my pre-reqs and will be continuing for the 10-11 year. After that, i'll most likely be looking for a school to transfer to for a BSN. You said Wayne State got rid of their nursing program,why is that? do they not offer nursing degrees there anymore? kyle.

hey everybody. im a student @ Schoolcraft College in Livonia and got word that the current wait to enter the nursing program is THREE YEARS. It was two years when i began my college career in the fall of 09. I'm looking to pursue a BSN and was wondering if there are any schools nearby that don't have that bad of a waitlist. I'm also wondering if you can take other classes towards a BSN or ADN after you finish your pre-reqs but aren't in the program yet. all the best, kyle.
