  1. Thanks for the information. You've been a great help!
  2. CU has everything from me except my transcripts from my alma mater. How long does it take to hear from admissions once they receive the transcripts? Also, what's required in order to apply for the nursing program other than the entrance exam? Also, do you know of any scholarships CU offers?
  3. I recently received my undergraduate degree in sociology. Along with my sociology courses, I completed general biology, anatomy/physiology, nutrition, and statistics. Two of those courses were completed back in 2009. Is there a time frame in which CU requires that these courses be completed? Also, what is the required score for the nursing entrance exam? Oh, I have taken childhood and adolescent development and an adulthood and aging course. Can those two classes count for human growth and development course?
  4. There are many science courses that you have to take in order to be fully prepared for the MCAT. I have friends studying for the MCAT now and they said it is no joke. If you're serious about medical school focus on that for now as it is more likely to pay off in the long run. Once you become a doctor, use your resources to start your own business as a fashion designer. You will be a doctor and a business woman.
  5. Hello There! Has anyone taken the CNA test for Tennessee? I have taken my course out of state so I am in the process of submitting my paperwork to challenge the test. Just want to hear from individuals who have been through the test and can provide some feedback. Also what's the average salary or rate/hour that a CNA makes in Nashville? Thanks in advance!
  6. Anatomy in the summer? Hmmmm.... I wouldn't do it. I say that because there is a lot of information that you have to learn and continue to build upon in that class and with spring/summer sessions not being the length of fall semester (15 weeks) it's a short length of time for all that information. But you do what's best for you :). Good luck! P.S Not a HFCC student but anatomy is anatomy
  7. Question...if I submit my application to the nursing program in September and get accepted, do you all think I will be placed on the 2013 waitlist? I'm really hoping so :)!!!
  8. Everytime someone asks me what I major in in college and I say nursing, the first thing that comes out of his or her mouth is "Oh that's good! You're guranteed a job!" For a long time I agreed with that until I realized that nothing in life is guranteed and the way this economy is going a lot of hospitals are doing a hiring freeze. I'm so excited about starting nursing school soon, but its also a bittersweet moment because I'm afraid that once I graduate I won't be able to find a job. For you recent Michigan nursing grads, are you all finding it hard to find employment in MI and do you think that finding employment will get better or worse this new year?
  9. I'm at Schoolcraft College, not in the ADN program yet, but I will be applying at the end of winter semester.
  10. Wow! That is quite a while away. I'll be going to OU once I receive my ADN but I'm going to do the RN-MSN so I won't have to worry about the waitlist.
  11. Congrats!!! U of M from what I hear is a great university and overall has a great reputation, but it is expensive!!! Oakland has a great reputation as well and they have offered you direct admit and full tuition coverage...TAKE IT!!! College is costly and it's not getting cheaper. Don't just look at the right now but look ahead. Can you really afford to cover the cost of tuition at U of M later down the road? I don't know your financial situation so that decison is for you to make. Good luck and I'm sure you will do great!
  12. Does the nursing program let you know what number you are on the list or is the "don't ask, don't tell policy" in effect?
  13. Is it true that University of Michigan and Wayne State University have both dropped the RN-BSN programs? I just read about it in my college's newspaper. How could this happen?
  14. If you want to gain leadership roles in nursing such as becoming a manager, I have been told that you should definitely go on to get your BSN. I'm currently going for my ADN (some call it ASN) and I will definitely be continuing on to get my BSN and MSN. Because of time, go for the ADN since you can't be full-time and then go for your BSN. Take one degree at a time. Good luck with everything = )
  15. I'm really interested in working in the emergency department for my nursing career but do I have to become certified in order to be an ER nurse or does it depend on what the department wants you to have?
