SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!!!

I love going school supplies shopping- however this time, it may include getting to look for the perfect stethoscope and such. I have found it less stressful waiting on the letters to come out to go ahead and pick out (and pack) my bag I will take with me. I chose a nurse mate bag with a medical theme. I found mentioning of what looked to be the perfect planner for nursing school, on here I believe, its called an UNCALENDAR, mine should make it to me tomorrow. It looks great. Plenty of room to organize. But I have began to pack for nursing school not even knowing if I will actually be accepted or not- however- staying confident- What would be in your bag that you will take for nursing school? Basic school supplies like folders, pens, highlighter...but what else that I may not be thinking of that would come in handy. :)

Good luck!! Hopefully you get accepted! Waiting is the worst! :( I start my BSN program jan 6th and I've already gotten everything ready lol. I tabbed all the chapters in all of my books, I have 5 binders (1 for each class), pocket dividers, BP cuff (it didn't come with a bag so I bought a small Vera Bradley bag to put both my cuff and my stethoscope in), a bag for all pens, pencils, highlighters, etc., a giant wall calendar to keep track of tests & stuff, a full size planner, and a spiral notebook for each class. I also bought a folder that divides into 3 sections for clinicals.

Oh wow! You start very soon! Congratulations :) I didn't even think about tabbing chapters! Thats a good one. Thank you. Did your school offer the BP cuff or did you go out and get one yourself. I haven't even began to look for a cuff!

The bag (lab kit) that we had to purchase in first semester has a nice BP cuff in it. Had to get our own steth though. First semester was insane. Some things I did unnecessarily were to print out EVERYTHING before my first class. Our instructors put up so many documents in Blackboard and I printed everything. Not necessary! I never did print out power points, but just tons of miscellaneous documents that I never even ended up using. They are pretty clear on what you need for each class and lab so this semester I plan on "as needed" printing only. I went through two reams of paper and two ink cartridges first semester. Live and learn.

I had a notebook, pencil/pen and books in my Dakine backpack. That's all you need....

I just finished my 1st semester. I had pencils/pens, a notebook, a folder, and my books in a backpack from Walmart. I agree with Dranger who said that that is all you need.

Thank you! Congrats to you as well :) I actually got the tabbing idea from YouTube videos lol. If you get then, get ones that actually say "durable" on the package because they're less flimsy. Our school offered a package that includes BP cuff, bandage scissors, a pocket organizer, and a clipboard. I decided to just buy the items separately at a store near my house. My school is giving us a free littmann stethoscope though...not sure what model but they all have to be decent! My cuff cost me about $30 at a local uniform shop.

I'm sorry, I said congrats because I thought you got in!!! But don't worry, I'll say it again when u get accepted :)

dtaleton88, go to http://www.uncalendar.com, I ordered the lifestyle spiral full size, 20 bux. It shows a preview what it looks like inside and to me it looks GREAT! There is so much room to write, and the way its set up, youll be able to organize different things on one page.

Mandy0728, I probably shouldn't be getting ready for nursing school not knowing yet if I will be accepted, I will still have classes to attend either way..but I am closer now than I have ever been and pretty confident..or atleast trying to stay that way. The only thing that makes me paranoid a bit is the competitiveness, I know I did good, but probably not as well as others..but thank you :p

Perhaps, but there's nothing wrong with being positive and confident. There's always competition....when I applied, I was very confident but after awhile I got super nervous and thought "what if everyone that applied had 4.0s lol". You will get in! I even quit my job a semester early because I was that confident in getting in, however I would've felt dumb if I didn't get in, the day I got accepted, I ordered my uniforms lol.

I LOVE the uncalendar! The bookstore at my old uni sold them and I've been ordering them online ever since. I've always hated other planners- too constrictive. They are so worth it.
