My parents who are also staff and faculty are probably my best...they tend to be the best at keeping their kids OUT of the clinic unless it's absolutely necessary. Especially when they start getting excessive calls and emails from me :)

My biggest problem is DADS. I have a kid with OI (fragile bones) and anytime I call this dad he's a complete jerk to me and this poor kid. He tries to tell me the fracture is just all in the kid's head while I'm sitting here looking at a swollen, bruised, obviously fractured leg. This kid is 12 and on his 50th fracture and you're telling me he's overdramatizing??

This week I call the dad, introduce myself again and tell him his son came in not feeling well, dizzy, pale, then vomited. Dad immediately starts yelling at me and says, "When you call someone in a business meeting you should put your phone on mute!!" Uh, dude, do you hear yourself right now?? Nothing you're saying makes ANY sense. First, how am I supposed to know you're in a meeting? Second, if I put myself on mute you wouldn't hear a DAYUM thing I was saying.

But according to WebMD symptom checker they have a bowel obstruction, it *can't* just be constipation from their all carb and cheese lunches I pack them.

Ermahgerd..my parents are on a roll right now, feeling the need to stop by & tell me how I could do my job better, how I've recently failed them, & basically how I suck.

It all pertains to lice & their misinformation which I instantly slam down. Honestly, do they really think they're gonna know more than me on this subject. Bring it! A mom came by today saying her HUSBAND said I need to send a lice letter and "isn't there a protocol for that?" First, the fact that it's a message from someone with testicles does not make it carry more weight, dear. Second, I have a lice letter protocol & it is to never send one. She said, "there was someone in B's class with lice. Then I found stuff in her hair so I treated her."

You found stuff??

Geez...call in the national guard, she found stuff.

I had one who blew it for the other 69 families in the school. I texted parents when their child had a non-emergent issue and all but this one parent preferred it. I texted her a picture of her son who scraped his face on the pavement so she wouldn't be shocked when she picked him up. I had accompanying text explaining what happened. She looked at the picture and didn't read it and immediately decided it was an allergic reaction. She complained and now no text, and every visit gets an email and cc to administration. Yup, some school parents suck.

It is actually just people in general that suck. It seems as if common sense just isn't that common anymore!
