Does your facility/school remember you on School Nurses Day ?

If so...what do they do in honor of the occasion?

I am SO blessed to work with a great group of staff and teachers! They sent notes home with the kids last week asking each class to bring a different item that I use a lot (ziplock bags, band-aids, drinking cups, crackers, etc.) and presented me with a huge box of all of it!!!! I am so appreciative! Not to mention, I got a gift card and we ordered lunch from a local cafe!!!! The students have been so sweet, too! I love my school!

Happy Nurse's Day to all the wonderful, hard-working school nurses out there! You deserve it!!!!:yeah:

Happy Nurse's Day!!!

Today was nice!! I was pleasantly surprised :)

I got lots of "we appreciate you" emails and a lot of the teachers wrote Happy Nurse's Day on all the nurse passes lol. My principal and ast principal took me out to lunch, which was really nice, but I was a nervous wreck at first wondering if something would happen while I was gone lol Normally I don't get a lunch so actually leaving to relax seems foreign.... However I was able to enjoy it and nothing bad happened while I was gone :yeah:when I got back there was a gorgeous plant waiting for me from the staff and the office staff got me a cute little gift. But the best part was when the Pre-K teachers brought their students to my door and they sang "Happy Nurse's Day" (sung like Happy Birthday) to me!! It was adorable, and a fabulous day! :redpinkhe

It was actually the first time I ever got anything for nurse's day!!

I love Nurses week around my school. My principal gave me a generous gift card, my lead nurse gave us all a beach bag and a beach towel, the school Dr. gave us all a small vase of flowers, Sunshine Club gave me a beautiful flower arrangement, PTA a gift card, Pyschologist and speech and secretary gave 2 Dunkin donusts cards and my aide gave me a Starbucks card. Does it look like a I like my coffee?:nurse:

I was not forgotten... I think this may be the most recognized I have ever been on Nurse's Day, in all my years as a nurse! Our PTO gave me a $25 gift card for a nice place to eat. My Assistant principal got me 3 ver nice canvas tote bags with my last name embroidered on the front, from Land's End. The staff at one elementary school gave me a card and $50. I felt very appreciated!!:redbeathe

Yesterday was my 3rd School Nurse day at this school, and it was the first time any mention of it was made! I received some lovely flowers and a card from the Principal and the AP. I have to say, just hearing thank you is nice.

What did you do to signal the day time? did they know it was school nurse day? Perhaps the old nurse gave them a heads up?

I mentioned the baskets that they all received the week before and that I didn't receive one. I had an aide say" Maybe you will get yours on Nurses Day" I replied" well it's nurses week this week and the 12 is School Nurses Day" It was in our local newspaper also. I know when Teacher Appreciaton week is and I am not the type of person to draw attention to myself or what I do. I have never had to. What really got me is my supervisor who was at my school last year never had to and my supervisor didn't even say anything until I called to wish her Happy Nurses Day. It is done and over with now. No sense in dwelling on it but I will say that it hurt my feelings.

So sorry to hear you were not acknowledged. Next year think about throwing an event, an open house in the health office, using some of the posters etc on NASN website.

Happy belated School Nurse Day from me!

Technically our school doesn't celebrate school nurse day because our district doesn't employ school nurses. Our health care coordinator who is an RN, BSN sent us an email and a small gift in appreciation of our efforts.

Ohio is stinky when it comes to School Health. I am a current school nurse certificate student but employed as a Health Aide! ICk!

Cheers!

Melissa

My last school gave me a card and gift. This school did absolutely nothing- not even a verbal anything. But they had a big cookout luncheon for teacher appreciation day! Oh well, I do it bc I love it.......
