First day back for students and already

  1. Kindergarten kids started this morning. I already have a student who showed up in a diaper. I called mom to ask why he is in a diaper and she said "He is only potty trained for number 1". Needless to say I have emailed admin to figure out how to handle this. I am not changing diapers all year because a parent cannot be bothered to potty train her kid. No developmental issues or medical issues to support the need for diapers.

I also have a kid who was sent in and mom calls me and says "make sure he gets his Keppra at noon so he doesn't have a seizure" Um, thanks for the heads-up Lady...there in this 5 year-old's backpack is a bottle of keppra and a syringe. It's going to be an interesting week. Glad I have three years of this under my belt to keep the humor. If I were brand new, I'd be outta here! LOL.

Jesus H. Christ. I have said this many times on this board...I don't know how you guys do it!!! I tried unsuccessfully to potty-train my 22 month old over the summer, she started getting her molars all at once and the process crashed and burned, she was too cranky and overwhelmed. I know we will try again in a few months and she will be fine, but dang...stories like a 5 year old in diapers make me terrified for my future!

Sometimes I like to sit at my desk and throw my hands up in the air when stuff like this happens and pretend I'm on a roller coaster.
